Create a shipping method
Create a shipping method after its carrier, carrier account, and service level are available. Open Menu > Products and services > Settings > Shipping.
Before you begin
For a custom method, create the custom carrier, carrier account, and service level. For an integrated method, register with ShipStation API and select Refresh integrated carriers. Registration synchronizes the carrier accounts and service levels that you must select when you create the shipping method.
You also need an active, non-summary Revenue account for shipping charges. If 4200 Shipping and handling is available, you can use it. If Account (shipping) has no available choices, create a Revenue account in Menu > Accounting > Chart of accounts. See Create an account.
Create a shipping method
- Open Menu > Products and services > Settings > Shipping.
- Select Shipping methods.
- Select Create shipping method.
- Enter the shipping method Name.
- In Account (shipping), select an active revenue account, and then select Carrier.
- Select the Carrier account and Label service level for that carrier.
- For a custom fixed-rate method, enter Amount. Integrated methods obtain their rate from the carrier, so Amount is disabled.
- Select Create.
The method becomes available on sales orders and item fulfillments. An integrated rate requires complete ship-from and ship-to addresses, a fulfillment location, and item or package weight.
