Changes to the Item Record When Advanced Pricing is Enabled
When Advanced Pricing is enabled, the following changes take place under Pricing, on the Sales/Pricing subtab of the item record:
When viewing the item record:
-
A new column called Price Rule is added.
-
The Default Discount % column is renamed to Pricing Method. The Pricing Method column shows price levels that use Average Cost or Cost for Pricing as a basis for Cost+ pricing.
-
A new field called Cost for Pricing is added. This new field lets you set a custom cost, ideal for items without standard costing or with volatile prices.
When editing the item record:
-
You can enter a value in the Cost for Pricing field. Prices for price levels based on Cost for Pricing will be automatically updated.
-
A new button called Refresh Prices is added. If you click this button, prices for price levels based on Average Cost will be updated if the average cost has changed.
When you enable the Advanced Pricing feature, the way pricing formulas are displayed on item records will change. For example, a formula like "-10.0%" will display as "Base price - 10.00%". This change applies not only to the user interface but also affects how formulas are handled in SuiteScript and REST.
If an item is sold in different currencies, the prices for each currency are calculated automatically based on the corresponding exchange rates on the Currency Exchange Rates record. For more information, see Currency Exchange Rates.
