Metric Types in Advanced SaaS Metrics

The Advanced SaaS Metrics SuiteApp uses the following metrics for contracts meeting the criteria.

Metric Type	Criteria
New	The SuiteApp tags a contract as new in the following scenarios: If the contract is new for a customer. If the contract is a renewal contract but the original contract is excluded from processing by the SuiteApp.
Churn	The SuiteApp tags a contract as churn if the contract has been canceled or is not renewed for a customer, and that there are no other existing contracts for that customer. Note: If a contract has ended for a customer but that customer still has other existing contracts, the contract is considered as downsell instead of churn.
Upsell	The SuiteApp tags a contract as upsell in the following scenarios: Increase in contract amount – If there is an increase in the contract amount for an item as compared to the original contract. Addition of item – If an item line is added during the duration of the contract or if an item line is added during the renewal of the contract. Co-terming – If there is a new contract created while there is an existing contract with the same end date, the newly created contract is treated as an upsell of the original contract.
Downsell	The SuiteApp tags a contract as downsell in the following scenarios: Decrease in contract amount – If there is a decrease in the contract amount for an item as compared to the original contract. Entered RMA – If there are items that were returned through return merchandise authorization (RMA) during the contract duration. RMA transactions are considered as downsell. Items that are not renewed – If there are items from the original contract that were not renewed during the contract renewal period. Items that were not renewed are considered as downsell. Contract ended but other contracts exist for the customer – If there are two contracts for a customer and one has ended while the other one is still ongoing, the contract that ended is considered as downsell.

Criteria

New

The SuiteApp tags a contract as new in the following scenarios:

If the contract is new for a customer.
If the contract is a renewal contract but the original contract is excluded from processing by the SuiteApp.

Churn

The SuiteApp tags a contract as churn if the contract has been canceled or is not renewed for a customer, and that there are no other existing contracts for that customer.

Note:

If a contract has ended for a customer but that customer still has other existing contracts, the contract is considered as downsell instead of churn.

Upsell

The SuiteApp tags a contract as upsell in the following scenarios:

Increase in contract amount – If there is an increase in the contract amount for an item as compared to the original contract.
Addition of item – If an item line is added during the duration of the contract or if an item line is added during the renewal of the contract.
Co-terming – If there is a new contract created while there is an existing contract with the same end date, the newly created contract is treated as an upsell of the original contract.

Downsell

The SuiteApp tags a contract as downsell in the following scenarios:

Decrease in contract amount – If there is a decrease in the contract amount for an item as compared to the original contract.
Entered RMA – If there are items that were returned through return merchandise authorization (RMA) during the contract duration. RMA transactions are considered as downsell.
Items that are not renewed – If there are items from the original contract that were not renewed during the contract renewal period. Items that were not renewed are considered as downsell.
Contract ended but other contracts exist for the customer – If there are two contracts for a customer and one has ended while the other one is still ongoing, the contract that ended is considered as downsell.
