Customizing Navigation Flows

Planning Modules is designed with customized navigation flows that implement a planning process that's easy for planners to use. You can customize the navigation flows or add your own as needed for your organization. For more information, see Administering Planning.

Note:

If you plan to modify the navigation flows, Oracle recommends that you make a copy of the predefined navigation flows and work in the copy, not the original. During content updates, Oracle applies the update to the original navigation flows and leaves your modified navigation flows unchanged.

If you incrementally enable additional features, any new forms or other artifacts are added to the original navigation flows.

About Duplicating Planning Modules Navigation Flows

As each module is enabled (Financials, Capital, Projects, Workforce), its cards, tabs, and sub-tabs are automatically added to the Default navigation flow. If you duplicate the Default navigation flow before all the modules are enabled, the duplicate navigation flow will include only the cards and tabs for the modules that are enabled. If you require the duplicate navigation flow to include cards and tabs for all modules, you must first enable all the modules and then duplicate the Default navigation flow. If you enable a module after duplicating the Default navigation flow, the newly enabled module's cards, tabs, and sub-tabs will not propagate to the duplicate navigation flow.

For example, when you enable the Financials module, the Default navigation flow will display the cards and tabs related to the Financials module. If you duplicate the Default navigation flow at this point, the duplicate flow will display the Financials cards and tabs. If you then enable the Capital module, the Default flow is updated with the Capital cards and tabs, but the duplicate navigation flow will not include the cards and tabs related to the Capital module.

The expectation is that you enable all modules before making copies of the navigation flows. Then if you duplicate the Default flow, you will see all the cards, tabs, and sub-tabs in the newly copied flow that you see in the Default flow.

If you didn’t enable all modules before you made copies of the navigation flows, and then you enable a new module, you can modify your copies of the navigation flows to manually add the cards and clusters for the newly enabled module. To manually add the cards and clusters, open the Navigation Flow page and click the name of the navigation flow you want to edit, right-click a card or cluster in the list, click Add Existing Card/Cluster, and then select a card or cluster from the Default Navigation Flow.
