Using a Job to Import Projects and Budgets (One-Time Setup)

The Import Projects and Budgets job simplifies the one-time task of migrating projects, budgets, and actuals from Project Management to EPM Planning Projects at a summary level.

When you run the job Import Projects and Budgets, the following tasks are performed as part of the job:

  • Runs the Import Projects integration.
  • Runs the Import Project Budgets integration.
  • Runs the ruleset Calculate Imported Projects.

To import projects, budgets, and actuals from Project Management to EPM Planning Projects using a job:

  1. From the Home page, click Application and then click Jobs.
  2. Click Schedule Jobs, and then click Import Projects and Budgets.
  3. Click Run Now, or specify options to schedule the job and then click Next.

The job is prepopulated with the information from Data Integration for the integrations you set up when you enabled Project Management Cloud Integration. The lists for Integration Job Name (Import Projects) and Integration Job Name (Import Budgets) include all the integrations defined for all Project Management calendars. Scenario, Version, and Entity are populated, but you can change them. To limit the amount of data, start and end periods are populated based on the calendar setup in EPM Planning Projects.

The entity values you select here are used as input in the Calculate Imported Projects rule. (The entity values are not passed on to Project Management to fetch the values corresponding to that business unit. You set the filter to get data for a Project Management business unit in Data Integration.)

  4. Select the integration job names for Integration Job Name (Import Projects) and Integration Job Name (Import Budgets).

    Note:

If there are multiple calendars in Project Management, there are multiple integrations available for Integration Job Name (Import Projects) and Integration Job Name (Import Budgets), each prefaced with a different name and associated with a different business unit. Run the integrations that are needed for your implementation.
  5. If needed, change the selections for Scenario, Version, and Entity and the start and end periods, and then click Next.
  6. Review the job details, and then click Finish.
  7. Import actuals (ongoing task): Perform this task when you first migrate projects from Project Management to EPM Planning Projects and repeat as needed for your planning cycle.

You can perform this task in one of two ways:

    1. Using a job. See Importing Project Actuals (Ongoing Task).
    2. Running an integration. See Importing Actuals Data from Project Management to EPM Planning Projects in Working with Planning Modules.
