Smart Operations: Manage Shift Operator Assignments for Workstations When Supervising Production
Welcome to the demo of 25A, Smart Operations feature Manage Shift Operator Assignments for Workstations When Supervising Production in Oracle Fusion Cloud Manufacturing.
With this enhancement, supervisors can assign operators to workstations for a shift. You can also unassign, check out, and view check in status of operators. You can assign multiple operators to a workstation. You can also assign one operator to multiple workstations. Others that were previously assigned to the workstation are identified and placed at the top of the list for quick assignment to the workstation.
Supervisors need an organized and convenient method to assign work to their team. Supervisors need to respond to real-time requirements such as workstation availability changes, work priority changes, changes in operator availability. With this enhancement, supervisors are better prepared to handle dynamic availability constraints during the shift. Efficient shift operator assignments help improve productivity and increase labor efficiency.
In this demo, we'll explore how to use this feature. First, we'll review the operator assignments across workstations in a work center. Then I'll show you how to search and filter through the list of available operators in the work center. Next, we'll learn how to quickly assign an operator to a workstation and also get the option to unassign them.
After that, we'll see how supervisors can track check in statuses when operators check into workstations and how they can optionally check them out if needed. Finally, we'll wrap up by reviewing where supervisors can check operator assignments for both current and upcoming shifts.
I am logged in as the production supervisor and have selected the Work Execution area in supply chain execution. Select the Production Supervision task to navigate to the Production Supervisor workbench. As a supervisor responsible for tablet assembly work center, you can review the checked in operators in each workstation by reviewing the name of operators in the first line of the workstation card.
Here, you notice that Workstation-03 has no operators yet. Click the workstation card to drill into it. There are currently no operators assigned. Click the Manage Operator Assignments button to start the assignment process.
In the Operator Assignment Drawer, the shift field defaults to the current shift, Shift B, which began at 2:00 PM. Expand the shift dropdown list. Here, you can view the current shift and upcoming shifts. As a supervisor, you can staff workstations for up to nine shifts in advance. Select the current shift.
The operators listed here are resource instances linked to persons categorized as either employees or contingent workers, and assigned to a labor resource within the work center. You can search for operators by their name or resource name. You can narrow your search by applying filters. Use the status filter to view operators who are either unassigned or already assigned to workstations.
Use the person type filter to filter your search based on employee or contingent worker. Use the resource filter to filter your search based on labor resource name. Scroll down to see more operators in the list. The system identifies the operators that were previously assigned to the workstation and places them at the top of the list for quicker assignment to the workstation. Select Josefina Miranda. You can assign multiple operators to a workstation or assign one operator to multiple workstations.
In this demo, we will assign Josefina Miranda to Workstation-03. Click the Update button to proceed. Here, you can see that Josefina is now assigned to the workstation. The badge indicates she is assigned, but has not yet checked in. If you want to unassign the operator from this workstation, you can click the Close icon.
Next, we will review the scenario where Josefina checks into the operator workbench. I am now logged in as Josefina Miranda in the operator Workbench. The operator assignment parameter in Smart Operations configuration controls whether an operator can check into any workstation, or only to the workstation assigned by the supervisor.
For this demo, I have set the operator assignment parameter to not enforced. Click the Check In button. Josefina is now checked into Workstation-03 and is ready to start work execution in the operator workbench.
I have now switched back to the production supervisor workbench. As a production supervisor, I can see from the badge status that Josefina has checked into the workstation. Additionally, the date and time stamp shows when she checked in.
As a supervisor, I can optionally check out an operator, which is useful if the operator forgets to check out themselves. Click the Force Checkout icon. Checking out an operator may interrupt work execution, so a warning message is displayed. Click Cancel. Click the All shift assignments link. Here, you can see operators who are assigned to the current shift and upcoming shifts. Click the Close icon.
To summarize this demo, we started by reviewing the operators checked in across workstations in the work center. Then we showed how as a supervisor, you can search and assign operators, unassign operators, view operator check-in status, and optionally check out operators. Finally, we reviewed how you can check operator assignments for current and upcoming shifts. This is the end of the feature demo. Thank you.
