Existing Customer Upsell and Cross-Sell
Storefront can now make upsell recommendations based on customer's existing subscription. The upsell recommendations is dynamically rendered based on the upsell recommendation rules that the tenant product marketing manager has defined for a plan that the customer has subscribed. Storefront will present an upsell option only if there are upsell rules configured for the plan. If there are more than one upsell recommendation rules, then the one with the highest score is presented. The marketing features configured on the upsell plan are displayed as a comparison against the current selection to entice the user to move to the higher value plan. Customer can dismiss the recommendation or decide to upgrade their subscription upon which they will be guided through the configuration and checkout to complete the purchase journey. Storefront will surface cross-sell options for the newly selected plan based on the product catalog cross-sell recommendation rules.

Communication Service Providers use upsell and cross-sell to increase the average revenue per customer. Such rules are defined to recommend a product upgrade based on customers existing subscription. The commerce storefront experience needs to surface the upsell rules configured for a plan so a customer could be recommended an upgrade option when they are purchasing a plan.
