Excel Output Format for Extracts and Extract Packages

Extracts and extract packages can optionally produce files in an Excel spreadsheet format instead of plain text. The Extract File Type and Sheet Name parameters are available in the Extract inspector to configure an extract to output data in Excel file format and may be used by full, incremental, and generational extracts. When these extracts are included in an extract package and their output combined into a single file, the data from each extract can be written to a separate worksheet in the same Excel file. The extract package can reuse the same sheet name defined for each extract or you can specify a Package Sheet Name in the extract package.

Business Benefit: Users can create custom reports and data files in Excel spreadsheet format using extracts. Extract packages can produce Excel files containing multiple worksheets with data from different Enterprise Data Management viewpoints.
