Oracle-Managed OCI Migration of Classic US Government Environments

One of Oracle's advancements, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), is the foundation of Oracle's second generation cloud. OCI, a purpose-built, best-in-class platform for running enterprise applications, is engineered from the ground up to run mission-critical databases, workloads, and applications while providing end-to-end security. Oracle's data centers around the globe are standardizing on the new OCI architecture which will deliver even greater performance and reliability. There are a lot of Cloud EPM features that are available only in OCI. See Features Available only in OCI Cloud EPM Environments in Getting Started with Oracle Enterprise Performance Management Cloud for Administrators.

Oracle will migrate all Classic Cloud EPM US Government environments to OCI in a seamless manner in Wave 10, on a predefined schedule. In the near future, Oracle will send notifications to the Service Administrators of these environments with the following information:

  • A list of the Service URLs of the current Classic environments.
  • The Cloud Account names of the new environments in OCI (in most cases, the current domain names are used).
  • Location of the OCI regions where the environments will be created.
  • The default Domain Administrator and Service Administrator email address on record with Oracle. It will be used as the Domain Administrator and Service Administrator for the new OCI environments.

The notification will provide information on when your OCI environments will be available and when data migration will occur. You can request Oracle to change the Domain Administrator and Service Administrator email by creating a service request containing the updated information by the date provided in the notification You cannot change the new Cloud Account name or the OCI region.

In the month specified in the notification email, Oracle will provide OCI environments equaling the current number of Classic environments. These OCI environments will use the Cloud Account names and OCI regions provided earlier in the notification email and will not have any application or users on them. The default (or requested) Domain Administrator and Service Administrator specified in the notification email will receive the Activate Your Account email.

NOTE: Because your OCI environments may be provisioned at different times, you may not receive notification emails for all the environments at the same time.

When you receive the OCI environments, complete these optional activities before the date specified in the notification email.

In the month specified in the notification email, while applying the monthly update during the daily maintenance, Oracle will automatically clone your OCI environments from Classic environments and change the DNS configuration so that the existing Classic service URLs are routed to the OCI environments. Cloning of test environments will be done on the first Friday of the month while the cloning of the production environments will take place on the third Friday of the same month. Oracle will terminate your Classic environments after the cloning of the production environments is complete.

Business Benefit: OCI provides you a purpose-built, best-in-class platform that is engineered from the ground up to run mission-critical databases, workloads, and business processes while providing end-to-end security. This new architecture delivers greater performance and reliability, and a number of Cloud features that are not available in Classic Cloud EPM.
