Match and Map Request Items to Existing Nodes in Viewpoints
Request items for nodes being inserted into a mapping viewpoint can be matched to existing nodes of a different node type using match rules and mapped to the accepted matches. Matching can be performed by data managers on requests that have request items from one or more data sources. A matching operation is performed for a selected viewpoint, source node type, data source, and target node type. Match rules used for mapping purposes are configured on the target node type and each rule specifies a data source, source node type, and property matching criteria. Match and map results identify match candidates for each request item and a comparison of property values between the incoming request items and the match candidates. An accepted match result will result in a relationship of the request item to the match candidate node in the mapping viewpoint. Once accepted matches are applied to a request, the inserted request items are re-parented and placed under the accepted match candidates in the mapping hierarchy.
Business Benefit: When mapping nodes from one application to another, source nodes can be matched to target nodes with similar property values, and explicit mappings can be created automatically using predefined rules or conditionally based on user review.
