Matching and Mapping Nodes
Matching and mapping nodes involves matching nodes being inserted into a mapping viewpoint with existing nodes of a different node type and then inserting the incoming nodes under the accepted match candidates in the mapping hierarchy.
Mapping Process Overview
Mapping operations in a viewpoint follows this general process:
- A data manager creates a request for the nodes to be mapped to existing nodes.
- The data manager creates and runs a match for specific source and target node types in a mapping viewpoint. See Running Matches for Mapping.
- The matching workbench displays the potential matches as determined by the
matching rules that were configured for each data source. See Understanding Match Results for Mapping and Creating, Editing, and Deleting Matching Rules.
Note:
Only the match results with match scores that exceed the Auto Exclude Threshold on the matching rules are displayed. - The data manager reviews the matches and accepts or rejects each match, and then applies the changes. See Reviewing Mapping Results and Applying Changes.
- The system uses the applied changes to update the request items in the request. The inserted request items are re-parented and placed under the accepted match candidates in the mapping hierarchy.
