New Environment Backup
This update introduces the Environment Backup, which is a new type of backup Cloud EPM creates during the daily maintenance of your environments. This backup is created at the physical level and includes all artifacts and data. It is primarily used to restore an environment in the most efficient and reliable manner to the exact same state at the time the backup was created. It can also be used to clone an environment for disaster recovery or production-to-test migration, ensuring that the target environment matches the source.
The Environment Backup is not the same as the Artifact Snapshot, which is created at the application level. While Artifact Snapshot includes application data, it excludes some artifacts, and is primarily used for incremental migration between environments (for example, test to production and vice versa) and for importing template or sample applications where certain artifacts are not required.
Applies to: Account Reconciliation, Enterprise Data Management, Enterprise Profitability and Cost Management, Financial Consolidation and Close, FreeForm, Narrative Reporting, Planning, Profitability and Cost Management, Tax Reporting
Business Benefit: Environment Backup provides customers an option to restore an environment to the exact same state as the time the backup was created. It also provides a better option for disaster recovery and production-to-test migration.
