Distribute Payroll Costs to Projects Using Organizations
Leverage the existing power of distributing payroll costs to projects with additional assignment attributes available to create rules summarized for all staff in a department. Department based labor schedules will provide more efficient distribution of payroll costs by ensuring people and assignments get distributed immediately upon payroll processing. This new labor schedule type allows you to use your organizational hierarchy to logically group people and their assignments together. You can define these organizational labor schedules for:
- A specific department within a business unit.
- An entire business unit, by leaving the department value blank.
- Any combination of the hierarchical nodes, by using the "Include Child Nodes" option.
- Distributing via time cards for all assignments.
If multiple organization labor schedules match the person assignment department and business unit associated to a payroll cost, it is distributed in a bottom-up order. Starting with any specific department match, then any parent department (if "Include Child Nodes" is selected), finishing with matching the person assignment business unit to any active labor schedule versions.
As illustrated below, this Organization labor schedule type will only match to payroll costs for the department of Biology HE US and will not match to any child node departments within the associated organization tree.
The business benefit of this feature is the increased efficiency of creating and maintaining labor schedules for groups of people and their assignments. The department and business unit labor schedules will also ensure Oracle Fusion Payroll costs are transferred to projects once an associated assignment is created and paid, reducing the delay in cost capture that can occur when person assignment labor schedule creation lags. The payroll costs can be evaluated and redistributed once a person assignment labor schedule is created.
