Setting the Time for Jobs to Post and Unpost

Administrators can now sonfigure a specific time to post and unpost all jobs to the Career Center. This setting applies to all Career Centers, and allows for specifying a time either on the hour or 30 minutes past the hour, as well as a specific time zone.

If the new setting is not enabled, jobs set to post on a future date will post at midnight or 12:01 AM in the local time zone of the User who last updated the posting information on a requisition. Jobs set to post on the current date post immediately since just after midnight for the current date has already passed. If you do not enable the new setting, then your posting and unposting will continue in this manner. If you enable the feature, then all Career Centers will post and unpost based on the selected time and time zone.

This feature addresses the concern for customers that have a mandate to post jobs or remove them at a specific time, rather than midnight.

Steps to Enable

To set to the time to post and unpost your jobs:

  1. Select Administration, then select Organization.
  2. Click System & Email Settings.
  3. At the bottom of the first section called System Settings, check the option Time to post and unpost Requisitions to Career Centers.
  4. In the drop-downs that appear, select both a time and a time zone.

Tips And Considerations

If you set a post/unpost time early in the day, requisitions created after this time that have the current date for a posting time will post immediately, similar to the behavior in previous releases. If your posting time is later in the day, the requisitions will post at that time. If you change the posting time before a requisition gets posted for the current day, you may prevent the requisition from being posted.

For example, your posting time was set to 6:00 PM, and a requisition is created prior to that time and set to post for the current date. Then, before 6:00 PM, the administrator changes the setting so that all jobs post at 9:00 AM. This new job will not be posted because it has missed the time to post. To correct this, you should edit the requisition and uncheck the posting options in the requisition for the desired Career Centers, and save the requisition. Then you should edit the requisition again and select the posting option once again for the desired Career Centers and save, and the job should post accordingly.

We recommend that you do not change the posting time frequently because of the chance that some of your jobs will not be posted.

If you uncheck the option at any time, then the behavior will revert to the previous releases, with the jobs posting/unposting at midnight in the time zone of the person who last saved the posting information.

The History Log for a requisition will list its scheduled time with the same time zone selected in the new option.
