Generate Run Balance Automation

You can now automatically recalculate any run balance dimension values. Creating or updating balance definitions and balance feeds can impact balance calculations and stored balance values for run balance dimensions. The Generate Run Balances process recalculates any invalid balance values for saved run balance dimensions thereby improving the performance and accuracy of payroll calculations.

Enable the automatic generation of run balances so that when you make changes to a balance feed it automatically initiates the Generate Run Balances flow. As a result, the payroll run results and payroll reports will always display the correct and updated run balance values.

The Generate Run Balances flow generates run balances for the Balance Type ID of the balance for which you have made changes. 

Note: Generation of run balances will be submitted for the legislative data group for which the balance feed changes belong to.

Steps to Enable

Use HCM Data Loader to load an event action. An event action links a process to the events within an event group. Create an event group and associate it to an event action that automatically runs the Generate Run Balances flow when you make changes to a balance feed. 

  1. Create an event action using HCM Data Loader.

  2. Create an event group to identify the type of changes to be monitored. You recalculate stored run balance values for a single balance type, all balances, or all invalid balances. Associate the event group to an event action that automatically runs the Generate Run Balances flow when you make changes to a balance feed.

  3. Load the Event Action.dat file and the Event.Group.dat files.

  4. Once you load the files successfully, you can view the created Event Action and Event Group from the Event Action Groups page. Now when the Balance Feed change happens, based on the Loader setup, the Generate Run Balances flow is automatically submitted.
