Enhanced Costing of Elements and Costing for Persons to Apply Element Security

You can now use the Enable Element Security in Element Eligibility and Person Costing feature to secure Costing of Elements and Costing for Persons by elements. Once enabled, you can only manage costing of elements within your element security profile.

Steps to Enable

To enable this feature, you must complete these two tasks as given in this section.

This is a one-time upgrade and once done, you can’t revert the upgrade process.

Change User-Defined Job Roles

Once enabled, you must also add the Manage Costing of Element (ORA_PAY_MANAGE_COSTING_OF_ELEMENT) aggregate privilege to your user-defined job roles or any new job roles that you create. This aggregate privilege is delivered to include both functional privilege and new data security. This aggregate privilege is granted to these predefined roles:

  • Payroll Implementation Duty
  • Payroll Implementation View Duty

Make the following changes depending on how your job roles are implemented:

  • If you use the delivered job roles or one of the above-mentioned duty roles that inherit the aggregate privilege, you don’t have to take any further action.
  • If you have either user-defined job roles or duty roles that have the functional privilege, Manage Costing of Element (PAY_MANAGE_PAYROLL_ELEMENT_CRITERIA_COSTING_PRIV), you must remove it and grant the aggregate privilege, (Manage Costing of Elements - ORA_PAY_MANAGE_COSTING_OF_ELEMENT). Without this step, you will not be able to access any elements within the costing pages.

Note: No security changes are necessary for Manage Costing for Persons.

Optionally, if you haven't yet implemented Element Security, refer to the What’s New for Secure Elements through HCM Data Roles feature published for 24A release.
