Volume Import Processing

As an HCM integration specialist, you can establish a daily volume input to identify a Workforce Scheduling workload requirement as a goal for scheduling activities. Import data over any date range and times within those ranges to establish a daily volume input using the Staffing Volume business object and HCM Data Loader.

The volume data import has several attributes that describe the type of imported data to delineate:

• Baseline: A longer-term volume averaged over for several months, quarters, or year typically sourced from a budget.
• Adjusted: A medium-term volume for a user-defined duration, such as a forecast or a plan update to use in place of the budgeted volume value.
• Actual: A shorter-term volume used from a-real time information collection solution, such as an electronic medical records or point-of-sale solution, to provide actual volume information. You use this attribute in place of the adjusted value.  

Workforce Scheduling retains each record and applies logic in the staffing grid lookup process to retain all the baseline requirements and identify the best current volume value to use. The process looks for the most recent actual, then the adjusted, and finally the baseline volume import record. It stops looking as soon as it finds the appropriate import record.

Each new record in the volume import for the date and times overlapping previous records is used for the volume lookups in the staffing grid to identify the workload requirement in Workforce Scheduling. Thus, you can simply create a record for the date range and times to update and those new records are used as the volume requirement. You can also edit and delete existing volume records by providing the surrogate, user, or primary keys when using HCM Data Loader.

This feature let's you variably schedule workers for a skill mix over a period of time.
