Show Learning Resources for Uncurated Skills on Skill Tabs
As an administrator, you can now display learning recommendations for uncurated skills on their own skill tab instead of the Additional Resources tab on skill-based swim lanes. A new profile option, ORA_WLF_UNCURATED_SKILLS_TABS_GROW, is now available, which enables you to do this.
Until the 25C upgrade, skills that were uncurated on a job profile or on a learning item were displayed on the Additional Resources tab in swim lanes such as Skills and qualifications for the <career_of_interest> role, Development resources for your role, and so on. A skill was displayed on its own skill tab only if it was curated on both the job profile and the learning item in which it was included.
Now, when you enable the ORA_WLF_UNCURATED_SKILLS_TABS_GROW profile option, learning recommendations for uncurated skills are displayed on their own skill tab. This holds good in any of these scenarios:
- The skill is curated on the job profile but uncurated on the learning item.
- The skill is curated on the learning item but uncurated on the job profile.
- The job profile is inactive.
When the profile option is disabled:
- Uncurated skills will continue be displayed on the Additional Resources tab for an active job profile.
- If the job profile is inactive, curated skills will be displayed on the Additional Resources tab.
Let’s say an active job profile of the Chief Technology Officer has two skills, Analytical Skills (curated) and Organizational Skills (uncurated on a job profile but curated on a learning item). When the profile option is set to Y, learning recommendations for these skills will be displayed on two separate tabs, Analytical Skills and Organizational Skills. If it’s set to N, Analytical Skills will be displayed on its own tab, but Organizational Skills will be displayed on the Additional Resources tab.
Learning Recommendations for Skills Displayed on Separate Tabs for the CTO Role
This feature gives you the flexibility to highlight learning goals for uncurated skills in dedicated tabs, thereby enabling employees to treat them as equally important as curated skills.
Steps to Enable
To use this feature, enable the profile option, ORA_WLF_UNCURATED_SKILLS_TABS_GROW. For details, see How do I enable a profile option?
For this feature to work, you need to create a recommendation profile by selecting the profile type as Automatically select resources. If you select the profile type as Select specific resources, all learning recommendations will be displayed on the Additional Resources tab, regardless of whether the profile option is enabled or not. See Recommend Learning for additional information on recommendation profiles.
To set up the Recommendation Profiles task, see the Steps to Enable section in this 24D What’s New feature: Audiences for Role Gaps and Popular Recommenders.
