Updated Learning Integration in HCM Journeys
We have introduced these new learn content types for the Learn Enrollment task type when you configure tasks in journeys.
-
Self-Paced: When you select this content type, the Learning Item Title field lists only self-paced learning items. Starting the task automatically enrolls the user and takes them directly to the learning content.
-
Event: When you select this content type, the Learning Item Title field lists only event learning items. Starting the task allows automatic self-enrollment and access to the scheduled event.
This is done so that learning journeys remain current, relevant, and aligned with the latest learning framework. This update keeps HCM Journeys aligned with Oracle’s latest Learning enhancements, delivering a more consistent, streamlined, and intuitive experience for both administrators and learners.
Additionally, we have removed outdated learn content types. The ability to create learn enrollment tasks has been removed from HCM Journeys for these learn content types: Video, Learning journey (also known as Tutorial), and Offering. Self-Paced now fully replaces Video and Learning journey.

Business benefit: Ensures HCM Journeys reflects Oracle’s latest learning architecture for enhanced usability. Additionally, it reduces confusion by only displaying valid, current learning item types.
Steps to Enable and Configure
You need to enable the ORA_WLF_ENABLE_DL_API profile option (set the profile value to Y) to display the new learn content types in the journey task configuration. Once enabled, the outdated learn content types will no longer be displayed. For more information, see this topic: How do I enable a profile option?
Tips And Considerations
When you enable the Self-Paced content type, these things happen with existing assignments:
- Learner assignments for Video and Learning journey are withdrawn.
- If a learner has already completed Video or Learning journey, the contents are migrated to a legacy learning item.
- Tasks that are not started will remain but will result in a navigation failure since the Video or Learning journey content is no longer available.
- Since Offering is a child of Course and not meant for direct learner selection, it is no longer available as a learn content type. Instead of Offering, the parent Course should be used.
