View Career Paths for Your Role

You can now view multiple career progression options for your role, enabling you to explore lateral and vertical career opportunities. Prior to this upgrade, you could only view a linear career progression path for your role. With this upgrade, you can view multiple career progression options, provided those career options are allowed and defined by your organization in Oracle Fusion Cloud HCM. 

A career progression path consists of multiple steps. Each step can now be associated with one or more job profiles or position profiles, which could be lateral or vertical positions across your organization. 

For example, if you’re an Associate Software Engineer in the Software Development organization, a vertical career progression could be as follows: 

  • Associate Software Engineer > Software Engineer > Senior Software Engineer > Director of Software Engineering  

If you want to explore lateral career opportunities in the Product Management track, the career progression path could be:

  • Associate Software Engineer > Product Manager > Senior Product Manager > Director of Product  

To view the career progression paths for your role, select Know Your Role in Grow. You’ll see a Career Progression tab on your role details page. Here, you can view the career path consisting of multiple steps, with each step having one or more career roles. These steps are displayed hierarchically, from the highest level to the junior-most level.

Selecting a career role on this tab takes you to the career role details page in Opportunity Marketplace. 

Note: The career path displayed on top of the page is the linear career progression path that was available before this upgrade. 

If your role is included in more than one career path, those career path cards will be displayed on the Career Progression tab. You’ll need to select a card to see the steps in that career path.

The count on a career path card is the sum of all active job and position profiles included across all the steps of the career path.  

Business Benefit: This feature enables you to make informed decisions about your career development and provides you options for internal mobility.

Tips and considerations

It’s recommended to add a career role to only one career path.

Access requirements

These privileges are already added to the predefined employee role. If you’re using custom roles, ensure that you add them to the employee role: 

  • View Career Roles in Opportunity Marketplace (IRC_VIEW_CAREER_ROLES_IN_OPPORTUNITY_MARKETPLACE_PRIV) 
  • Manage Career (HRG_MANAGE_CAREER_DETAILS_PRIV)
  • Use REST Service – Saved Searches  (HRG_REST_SERVICE_ACCESS_CAREER_SEARCHES_PRIV)
