Recommend and Manage Career Roles for Employees
Managers and HR admins can now recommend career roles for employees. There's a new quick action called Recommend Career Roles located under:
- My Team > Show More > Career and Performance for managers
- My Team > Team Activity Center > Applications > View More for managers
- My Client Group > Show More > Talent for HR admins
When they click it, the Recommend Career Roles page opens.
Recommend Career Roles Page
Managers or human resource managers select an employee to open an employee-specific Recommend Career Roles page.
Recommend Career Roles to Employee
They can then search for and select a career role to open a details page, and select Recommend. They can also select View Preferences to see what the employee prefers. This information is presented in read-only mode, and excludes gig preferences, update profile links, skills and qualifications, and notifications checkbox.
View Employee Preferences
The recommended career role is listed under the Recommended filter for an employee. They see a combined list of up to 10 recommended roles in Opportunity Marketplace, mixing manager-recommended and AI-recommended roles. If fewer than five manager-recommended roles exist, AI recommendations fill the remaining slots up to 10 roles.
Employee Recommendations
Business benefit: This feature enhances insight into employee career opportunities. A manager or HR admin can proactively recommend career opportunities for their reports and also view their preferences.
Steps to enable and configure
- Enable the ORA_HCM_OPP_MARKET_PLACE_CAREER_ROLES profile option to display the Recommend Career Roles quick action. For details, see How do I enable a profile option?.

Tips and considerations
- If no manager-recommended career roles exist, the recommended context page will be empty and won't show AI recommendations.
- If manager-recommended roles exceed five, only the first five show.
- The Recommended career roles context shows Career Role Recommendations made by managers, admins, peers, and AI-generated recommendations.
