Support of ED April ISIR Comment Code Updates for 2026-27
On April 15th 2026, the U.S. Department of Education issued updates to the 2026-27 FAFSA Specifications Guide. To align with these changes, SFA has been updated to support comment and reject code updates for 2026-27 ISIR processing, ensuring accurate processing and enabling institutions to configure automation within ISIR processing. This includes support for new comment codes 353 through 360 and related reject code mappings for 74, 75, and 76 on the 2026-2027 ISIR layout.
New Comment Codes
- Do not require resolution:
- 353 - We identified activity on your FAFSA form that may require additional review. You do not need to take any action at this time. Your college(s) or career school(s) may contact you to verify your identity.
- 356 - We have successfully verified your identity.
- 358 - Your college or career school has successfully verified your identity.
- 359- Your college or career school attempted to verify your identity but was unsuccessful. Contact your college's or career school's financial aid office for assistance.
- 360 - We were unable to verify some information on your application. You do not need to take any action at this time. Your college(s) or career school(s) may contact you to verify your identity.
- Require Resolution:
- 354 and 355 - You were selected for identity verification, but we couldn't complete the process. Contact your college's or career school's financial aid office to finish this process.
- 357 - We have detected fraudulent activity on your FAFSA form. Contact your college's or career school's financial aid office for assistance.
- 359 - Your college or career school attempted to verify your identity but was unsuccessful. Contact your college's or career school's financial aid office for assistance.

- 74 - is linked to comment code 354 and 355
- 75 - is linked to comment code 357
- 76 - is linked to 359

- This update helps ensure 2026-2027 ISIR processing remains aligned with current ED guidance for identity verification, fraud review, and related resolution-required scenarios.

Use the Opt In UI to enable this feature. For instructions, refer to the Optional Uptake of New Features section of this document.

- Update Configuration Scripts:
- Review baseline configuration for ISIR processing posted on Cloud Customer Connect, and update your configuration as needed.
- To get started, ensure that "Configuration Administration" Permission is enabled and download your existing configuration from Oracle Student Financial Aid within Administration > Configuration Administration > Download.
- The following workbooks were updated to automate processing for the new ISIR updates

- ISIR_REJECT_TO_C_CODES workbook for the 2026-2027 Award Year

- The following workbooks were updated to automate processing for the new ISIR updates
- If you updated your configuration, navigate to Administration > Configuration Administration, and upload your zipped configuration
- To get started, ensure that "Configuration Administration" Permission is enabled and download your existing configuration from Oracle Student Financial Aid within Administration > Configuration Administration > Download.
- Review baseline configuration for ISIR processing posted on Cloud Customer Connect, and update your configuration as needed.

- See Support of Department of Education's April 2026 ISIR Updates updates posted on Cloud Customer Connect on how to resolve students that have received ISIRs with the new Comment Codes prior to the release. A Query was also provided to find any ISIRs that contain a C-Code the new and updated Comment Codes.
