Incremental Planning - Honor Parameter Save Order Movements in Show Network Routing Options
This feature extends the Incremental Planning capabilities provided by the application by enhancing the Show Network Routing Options and Show Network Routing Options - Ocean actions so that the results generated by these actions now honor the setting for the Network Routing Logic Configuration parameter Save Order Movements. The options provided by the Save Order Movements parameter (previously used in Bulk Planning) include the following options:
- Build Shipments and Save All Order Movements: Network routing will create and save shipments and all order movements. This is the default.
- Save All Order Movements without Building Shipments: Network routing will not create shipments, but will create and save all order movements (including network leg order movements). These order movements will indicate how the order release has been routed through the entire network, including any routing networks.
- Save itinerary Leg-Level Order Movements without Building Shipments: Network routing will not create shipments and will save only the itinerary leg-level order movements. If an order release has been routed through a routing network, only the network routable order movement will be saved (which does not indicate how it may be routed through the routing network).
By considering Save Order Movement parameter, you now have the option of using either Show Network Routing Options or Show Network Routing Options - Ocean to generate just the Order Movements for your selected Routing Option.
In the example below, the order being considered has multiple routing options, considering various ports of load (USNYC and USBAL) and voyage schedules. With the Save Order Movements parameter set to Save All Order Movements without Building Shipments the actions Network Routing Options and Show Network Routing Options - Ocean will allow you to select the desired option and just create the desired Order Movements without building shipments. In this example the Show Network Routing Options - Ocean is being used.
Show Network Routing Options, List of Options
For demonstration purposes, the more expensive and later option out of USBAL will be selected, as shown below.
Option Out of USBAL Is Selected, More Expensive Later Option
In this case, the selected option out of USBAL, will only generate the Order Movements, since the Network Routing Logic Configuration parameter Save Order Movements has been configured to only create the Order Movements.
Order Movements Generated by the Selected Option
Note that you still have the option of running a Bulk Plan to generate just the Order Movements - the actions and Bulk Planning use the same parameter. In this case, the Bulk Plan will select the lowest cost earliest option - which is the first option in the list - shown below.
Option That Will Be Selected by the Bulk Plan
The Order Movements generated are below. The Bulk Planning options works well if the decisions being made by in Bulk Planning match the desired routing, if that is not the case, then being able to select the routing option desired using the actions provides control and simplifies the process of generating the desired Order Movements.
Bulk Plan Generated Order Movements
This feature allows you to generate just the Order Movements for your desired routing using the actions Show Network Routing Options or Show Network Routing Options - Ocean.
Steps to Enable
You will need to configure the Network Routing Logic Configuration parameter Save Order Movements to the options that do not Build Shipments, options 2 or 3 below.
In the examples provided above the Network Routing Logic Configuration parameter Save Order Movements was set to Save All Order Movements without Building Shipments as shown below.

Tips And Considerations
Note this feature is for Network Routing - Cost Based will continue to create both Order Movements and Shipments.
