Saved Layout Templates

This feature provides you with the option to simplify the creation of Enhanced Workbenches by using a pre-defined Layout Template to handle the horizontal and vertical panel splitting for your Enhanced Workbench setup.  This feature provides a set of Public Layout Templates to use as well as providing you with the option of creating and saving your own Layout Templates.

The example below demonstrates how to use the Saved Layout Templates.

When creating a new Enhanced Layout, the Create Layout dialog now includes the Use Saved Layout Template option as part of the create process.  When you select the Use Saved Layout Template option, a visual representation of the available Saved Layout Templates is provided - as shown below.

In this example, a number of Saved Layout Templates are provided as Public data.  In this example, the Template 3 is selected as shown below.

In this example, the Saved Template Template 3, provides the three panel split shown below.

To complete the example, the selected Layout Template - with content added - provides the Enhanced Workbench below.

Save Layout Template

You also have the option of adding your own Layout Templates.  In the example below, the Layout Template for a complicated Enhanced Workbench (Visibility 2) will be saved, and then used as a starting point for a new Enhanced Layout.

When you select the Save Layout Template option, the dialog box below is displayed.  To create Saved Layout Template - enter the Template ID, and a description.  Note that the image capturing the Layout splits is provided as part of the Save Layout Template dialog box.

Continuing with the Save Layout Template example, for the Enhanced Workbench being created below, the Layout Template saved above (Six Panel Split) will be selected for the Enhanced Workbench being created.

 Now, using the Saved Layout Template, the starting point for the Enhanced Workbench is shown below.

This usability feature simplifies the steps required for creating a multi-panel Enhanced Workbench.

Steps to Enable

You don't need to do anything to enable this feature.

Tips And Considerations

The Layout Template option is only available for users with Workbench-Create access.

You can review your list of Workbench Templates by navigating to Configuration and Administration > User Configuration > Workbench Template.
