Auto-generate Inbound LPNs and Print Labels

Inbound transactions are the mainstay of your warehouse operations. With this enhancement, you can now auto-generate LPN numbers and print labels for supported inbound transactions. You can achieve this using the newly introduced screen parameters "lpn-prompt-behaviour" and "print-labels".

AUTO-GENERATE LPN NUMBER

By configuring the screen parameter "lpn-prompt-behaviour", you can now control the auto-generation of LPN numbers for the following RF inbound transactions:

  • RF Create LPN
  • RF Split Inbound LPN
  • RF Pick Inbound LPN
  • RF Inbound LPN Pick for Consol Replen

In addition to the inbound transactions listed above, auto-generation of LPN numbers for RF Combine Outbound LPN is also supported.

The "lpn-prompt-behaviour" screen parameter has two settings:

  • When the screen parameter is not configured or set as blank on the RF module, the system follows the default behavior of prompting you to scan an LPN number.
  • However, when you set the screen parameter to "Auto Generate", you can either scan an LPN or hit Tab on the LPN Prompt screen to generate the LPN number automatically.

PRINT LABELS

Now, you can print labels easily for the inbound transactions workflow by configuring the screen parameter "print-labels". When you set the parameter as "Inbound LPN Label", you can use the relevant hot keys to confirm the default printer or change to a custom printer and trigger a label print action for that particular transaction. After initiating the label print action, the system uses the configured label template (from the Label Template View UI)  or other configured rules to print the labels.

NOTE: By default, the parameter value of "print-labels" is blank. In this state, the system will not display the hot key option to print labels.

All label print actions are fired to the user’s configured default printer when you end the LPN using the hotkey Ctrl+E. However, if a different printer is to be used, you can change it from the Main RF menu options using the following hot keys:

RF TRANSACTION HOTKEY
RF Create LPN Ctrl+P
RF Split Inbound LPN Ctrl+L
RF Pick Inbound LPN Ctrl+L
RF Inbound LPN Pick for Consolidate Replenishment Ctrl+L

Printing labels for RF Combine Outbound LPN can be achieved via the post-packing flow.

NOTE:

  • If a default printer is not configured for a user, or, if the user inputs an invalid printer name after pressing the relevant hotkey to change the default printer, the system displays a warning message: "No default printer found, label printing will fail, proceed?"

  • In the normal workflow, if you end the LPN (via hotkeys Ctrl+E) and press Tab, the system displays a pop-up message: "Proceed with default label printer?". On continuing, if the default label printer is unsupported, the system displays an error message: "Invalid Printer". The supported printer type for labels is ZEB.
However, if you scan an invalid printer name, the system displays the error message: "Printer doesn't exist in current facility".

Steps to Enable

  1. Go to the Screens UI.
  2. Select the supported RF transaction (i.e, RF Create LPN/RF Split Inbound LPN/RF Pick Inbound LPN/RF Inbound LPN Pick for Consol Replen/RF Combine Outbound LPN).
  3. Click on the detailed view button.

To auto-generate LPN numbers, do the following:

  1. Select the module parameter "lpn-prompt-behaviour".
  2. Click on the edit icon and select "Auto Generate" on the module parm choice dropdown.

For printing labels, do the following:

  1. Select the module parameter "print-labels".
