Here Technologies Speed Cap Parameter
This feature enhances the parameters supported for Here Technologies to include the Speed Cap parameter. The Speed Cap (SPEED_CAP_IN_MTS_PER_SEC) parameter allows you to set a maximum speed limit (in meters per second) that Here's route calculation logic will use in calculating the route and transit time. The Speed Cap value will be used for all road segments where Here Technologies base speed limit is greater than the specified Speed Cap value.
Speed Cap Parameter - SPEED_CAP_IN_MTS_PER_SEC
In the example below, most of the route uses the San Bernadino Freeway (I-10) in California. The base speed limit for the San Bernardino is between 65 and 70 MPH, in this scenario the desire is to have the transit time reflect a Speed Cap of 55 MPH. Setting the SPEED_CAP_IN_MTS_PER_SEC parameter to 24.59 meters per second - as shown above - will satisfy this requirement by capping the top speed used by Here's routing logic to 55 MPH or 24.59 meters per second.
NOTE: The portion of this route that does not involve driving on the San Bernadino Freeway (I-10) the portion highlighted in purple - will not be impacted by the Speed Cap since the base speed for this portion of the route is only 35 MPH or 15.64 meters per second.
Speed Cap Application Example
This feature provides the option to set a speed cap that will be applied to any road segment where the base speed is greater than the value provided, this will, for those road segments provide a slower speed and a more realistic transit time.
Steps to Enable
This take advantage of this feature, you will need to add the Speed Cap SPEED_CAP_IN_MTS_PER_SEC parameter to a new or existing Here Technologies External Distance configuration.
