Facilitate Putaway to Work Center Location for Direct Item Procurement
In some manufacturing flows, specific raw materials or components are sourced directly from vendors that are needed in a specific work center/assembly area within the warehouse. These items are not procured to be stored but are intended solely for manufacturing purposes.
This enhancement allows you to procure the materials from the vendor and deliver them directly to a work center location, bypassing the standard storage areas.
With this enhancement:
-
Purchase Orders can now include instructions to deliver items directly to the work center or destination location. There are three new fields added in the PO Details: Destination Location, Manufacturing Work Order Number, and Manufacturing Operation Sequence.
-
The destination location information from the Purchase Order details are copied to the corresponding ASN details.
-
Putaway Type Calculation Rule has been enhanced to calculate a specific Putaway type for inventories with required work center or destination location information.
-
We have expanded the PutawayTypeCalcRuleView > Selection Criteria with these new columns:
-
IB Shipment Dtl Destination Location Aisle

- The Putaway Priority has been enhanced with a new Putaway Method, “Predetermined Location”, to direct the LPNs to the predefined location/work center during System Directed Putaway. When the Putaway Method is set to “Predetermined Location”, the following three new configuration fields will be enabled for edit:
- "Infer Destination Location From" provides the following drop-down options:
- IB Shipment Dtl Destination Location
- IB Shipment Dtl Cust Field1
- IB Shipment Dtl Cust Field2
- IB Shipment Dtl Cust Field3
- IB Shipment Dtl Cust Field4
- IB Shipment Dtl Cust Field5
- IB Shipment Dtl Cust Long Text1
- IB Shipment Dtl Cust Long Text2

- IB Shipment Dtl Cust Short Text9
- IB Shipment Dtl Cust Short Text10
- IB Shipment Dtl Cust Short Text11
- IB Shipment Dtl Cust Short Text12
- Destination Location is a look-up field, where you can filter and select an Active or Reserve location.
- Auto Consume Flag is a check box.
- If the Auto Consume Flag is enabled, the Destination Location must be of type Active.
NOTE: You must provide either the Infer Destination Location From or Destination Location. If you do not configure either field, the system will display an error: “Provide either Infer Destination Location From or Destination Location.” If you configure both fields, the system will display an error: “Provide either Infer Destination Location From or Destination Location.”
IMPORTANT:
-
WMS Fusion needs to send the pre-determined work center location and work order information (optional) in the purchase order details.
-
Post receiving, using the System direct putaway, the inventories will be moved to the designated work center location.
-
During receiving, the LPNs should be locked with a Pending Putaway lock code, with "Unlock on Locate to Reserve" = Yes.
Steps to Enable
IMPORTANT: Below are some configuration examples. You can configure the Putaway Type Calculation Rule and Putaway Priority with any of the new configuration options based on your business needs.
- DEFINE DESTINATION LOCATION IN PURCHASE ORDERS
Create Purchase Order details with the following information:
- Destination Location (must be an Active or Reserve location).
- Manufacturing Work Order Number (optional, up to 120 characters).
- Manufacturing Operation Sequence (optional, whole numbers only).
- SET UP PUTAWAY TYPE
- Configure a Putaway Type to be used for the Direct Item Procurement flow.
For example: DIPPT1
- SET UP PUTAWAY TYPE CALCULATION RULE
If you want the system to recognize inventories that have a Destination Location defined (from IB Shipment Detail Destination Location), you can set up the Putaway Type Calculation Rule as follows:
For Final Putaway Type = DIIPPT1
Set the Selection Criteria as follows:
-
- SQL Operator: IS BLANK OR NULL
- Column Name: IB Shipment Dtl Destination Location Barcode
- Column Value: False
- SET UP PUTAWAY PRIORITY:
- Select Putaway Type = DIPPT1.
- Set a Priority.
- Select Putaway Method = Predetermined Location.
- Select Infer Destination Location From = IB Shipment Dtl Destination Location.
- Enable Auto Consume Flag.
- Click Save.
Putaway Priority Set Up
IMPORTANT:
-
The existing System Directed Putaway IHT records are updated with new Ref fields to indicate a DIP flow.
-
For a DIP flow with Auto-Consume, a new IHT-91 is written in addition to the existing IHTs.
