Optimize the Cart-Based Putaway Flow

AUTO-LAUNCH BUILD PUTAWAY CART FROM RF - SORT AND RECEIVE

We’ve enhanced the RF - Sort and Receive screen (module: rf.inbound.cwrfsortandrecv) to launch the Build Putaway cart to improve workflow speed and reduce manual steps after processing received LPNs.

We have a new parameter “next-screen-to-launch in RF Sort and Receive, which defines the next RF screen to automatically launch after “Ctrl-E: End Tote” and LPN Scan.

NOTE: Currently, this supports calling RF screens of the module "rf.inbound.cwrfbuildputawaycart", with the transaction screen name configured in the Parameter Value.

The following is the flow when the “next-screen-to-launch” parameter is configured with a valid Build Putaway Cart screen:

  • After ‘Ctrl-E: End Tote’ and LPN Scan, the system invokes the Build Putaway Cart for the scanned LPN / Tote.

  • Once the Putaway allocation is successful:
    • If auto-assign-task is Enabled (in Build Putaway Cart configuration):
    • The Execute Task screen is called immediately.
    • Once completed, the system returns to RF - Sort and Receive.
  • If auto-assign-task is Disabled or the Task Template is Missing:
    • The user is shown a "Putaway cart task creation submitted for processing" message.
    • The system then navigates back to RF - Sort and Receive.

NOTE: When the Build Putaway Cart is triggered from Sort and Receive, the Sort and Receive location prompt will not appear.

ADDED LPN SCAN PROMPT FOR SHARED POSITIONS IN RF PUTAWAY CART

During RF Palletize, the system currently allows multiple LPNs to be placed in the same pallet position.

When performing Build Putaway Cart for the pallet, during the Pick Cart transaction, when 'pick-confirmation' is set to 'Position', and multiple LPNs are found in the same position, there is a risk that users may accidentally pull or pick inventory from the wrong LPN during the position scan.

To address this, we have enhanced the Putaway Cart process to prompt for an LPN scan after the position scan if multiple LPNs are found in the scanned position.

EXPANDED MATCHING COLUMN FOR BUILD PUTAWAY CART COMPATIBILITY RULES

We’ve expanded the list of Matching Column for the Build Putaway Cart Compatibility Rule. A total of 92 new matching columns related to Container, Item, and Destination Location information have been added. These new fields can now be used to configure more specific Build Putaway Cart Compatibility Rules based on user requirements.

Examples include:

  • Container Asset Nbr
  • Container Height
  • Container is LPN as Physical Pallet Flag
  • Item Description
  • Item Currency Code
  • Item Net Cost
  • Destination Location Assembly Flag
  • Destination Location Barcode
  • Destination Location Pick Zone

EXPAND SELECTION CRITERIA FOR TASK CREATION TEMPLATE

We’ve expanded the list of Selection Criteria for the Task Creation template of PUTAWAY_CART Task Type. A total of 92 new selection criteria related to Container, Item, and Destination Location information have been added. These new fields can now be used to configure a more specific Task Creation template of PUTAWAY_CART Task Type based on user requirements.

Examples included:

  • Container Asset Nbr
  • Container Height
  • Container Width
  • Item Carrier Commodity Description
  • Item Case Oblpn Type
  • Item Catch Weight Method
  • Destination Location Barcode
  • Destination Location Height
  • Destination Location Pick Zone

IMPORTANT MINOR ENHANCEMENTS:

  • We’ve added a new Hot-key CTRL+L in the RF Build Putaway Cart/LPN scan screen to let you view the LPNs already scanned to the cart.

  • The CART_POSN_NBR field has been enhanced to accept both alphabetic and numeric values. It is now stored as text with a maximum length of 15 characters, ensuring consistency with the pallet position field. This update resolves the issue that previously occurred when a pallet, defined with an alphanumeric position, was used as a cart, which only supported numeric values.
