Ship Unit/Package Level Cost Visibility
This feature enhances the shipment ship unit (or shipment ship unit line) shipment cost details provided on the Shipment Management Financials tab. Now, for Shipment Cost calculated on a per ship unit or ship unit line level, the application will now generate a reference id for these cost along with including the per ship unit (or ship unit line) costs in the shipment Costs grid.
This feature supports the additional visibility to these costs for both externally and internally rated shipments.
In the example below, the shipment involves shipping two ship units - one ship unit weighs 25 LBs and the second weighs 40 LBs. Previously, while the application would properly rate the shipment, the individually calculated cost for each of the ship units would be rolled up into a single Base cost entry. Now, the individual costs for the costed ship units are provided with a system generated ID - as shown below.

Shipment Ship Unit Cost Visibility
The UI below drills into the shipment cost Cost Details, providing the calculation information for each of the costs calculated for the shipment. The two Base costs calculations are for the two ship unit level rates, for this parcel scenario the correct rate was selected for the two different weight ship units (25 LB and 40 LB), in addition, the accessorial charge (highlighted in blue) is calculated based on the total weight of the shipment - in this case 65 LBs.

Cost Detail(s) Ship Unit and Accessorial
Previously, while the shipment cost was rated correctly, visibility to the ship unit level cost was only available by looking into the Cost Details - as shown below.

Freight Payment
The shipment Costs identified and assigned to the shipment cost grid at the ship unit or ship unit line level also extends into the freight payment process. For modes, like parcel, where a service provider will provide a Tracking Number per ship unit (or ship unit line) and the tracking number is used to identify the ship unit/package related cost on the invoice, with this enhancement, the tracking number information on the invoice can now be matched to the ship unit or ship unit line based on the provided tracking number. The Match Rule will determine if the match is done at the ship unit or ship unit line level.
Specific functional capabilities added to better support ship unit and ship unit line freight payment processing include:
-
Faster Processing of Related Invoices:
Improved system performance to quickly and efficiently match related child invoices, for shipment or ship unit or ship unit line. -
Smarter Child Invoice Approval:
You can now approve child invoices by directly comparing the child invoice lines details with the corresponding shipment cost based on the ship unit or ship unit line cost reference.. -
Flexible Partial Approval:
Support the capability to process each child invoice independently from other child invoices of the same parent invoice and generate voucher having child invoice details which passed tolerance. -
Autopay Invoice Generation:
Support the generation of an autopay invoice based on ship unit or ship unit line.
Business Benefit: This feature provides greater visibility to the package level shipment costs model at the ship unit or ship unit line level. This enables more precise cost reporting and better control of expenses for your shipments where the total cost involved rating at the ship unit and ship unit line level.
