Support Infer and Switch UOM Capabilities for Additional Mobile Transactions

The system currently supports the following key UOM capabilities in multiple mobile transactions:

  • Infer UOM from item barcode: Infer UOM and pack/case quantity from a scanned item barcode.
  • Switch UOM: Change UOM during a transaction using “Ctrl-K: Switch UOM” hotkey.

We are now extending these capabilities across multiple mobile transactions, as outlined below:

Transaction Name Supported Functionalities in This Release
Mobile Summary Cycle Count (rf.inbound.cwrfccsummarycount)
  • Infer UOM from item barcode
  • Switch UOM
Mobile Pick and Allocate (rf.outbound.cwrfpickandallocateorder)
Mobile IB Sorting (rf.inbound.cwrfibsortlpn)
Mobile Split IB Container (rf.inbound.cwrfsplitcntr)
  • Switch UOM

NOTE: Infer UOM from item barcode is already supported for Mobile Split IB Container transaction.

This enhancement helps you to:

  • Reduce manual UOM conversions.
  • Speed up counting, picking, sorting, and split operations.
  • Allow switching of UOM real-time also infer from a scanned item barcode, based on configuration.
  • Reduce screen relaunches or switching between screens within the transaction flow.

INFER UOM FROM ITEM BARCODE

To support inferring UOM from an item barcode, the following screen parameters are added:

  • infer-uom-from-item-barcode to the Mobile Pick and Allocate and Mobile Summary Cycle Count transactions.
  • qty-uom to the Mobile IB Sorting transaction.

infer-uom-from-item-barcode screen parameter behavior:

Parameter Value Behavior
Blank or No

The system does not infer UOM from the scanned item barcode.

By default, the parameter value is blank.
Yes The system infers UOM from the scanned item barcode. When an item barcode is scanned, the system computes inventory quantity based on the pack or case quantity defined on the item barcode.

qty-uom screen parameter behavior:

Parameter Value Behavior
Blank or Units

The system does not infer UOM from the scanned item barcode.

By default, the parameter value is blank.
Packs When an item or item barcode is scanned, the system retrieves the Pack Quantity from the scanned inventory and defaults it in the quantity field.
Cases When an item or item barcode is scanned, the system retrieves the Case Quantity from the scanned inventory and defaults it in the quantity field.
Infer UOM from Item Barcode

The system infers UOM from the scanned item barcode.

On item barcode scan, the system retrieves the UOM and pack or case quantity from the barcode as defined for the item barcode.

On item scan, the system computes the inventory quantity based on the item’s primary/facility UOM.

NOTE: For Mobile IB Sorting transaction, this change does not apply when “sort-inventory-to” is set to “Pallet - Do not call Directed Putaway” or “Pallet - Call Directed Putaway”, because the system moves LPN directly to a pallet.

When you perform the Mobile Split IB Container transaction, on the IHT-34 and IHT-35 records, the system now populates Ref Code 17/Ref Value 17 for UOM in which the Split IBLPN occurred and Ref Code 18/Ref Value 18 for the entered quantity.

SWITCH UOM

You can now switch UOM in the following mobile transactions:

  • Mobile Summary Cycle Count
  • Mobile Pick and Allocate
  • Mobile Split IB Container
  • Mobile IB Sorting

After scanning an item, use the “Ctrl-K: Switch UOM” hotkey to view and select available UOMs.

  • If the scanned item’s primary UOM is a system class UOM, the system displays only Units (primary UOM), Packs (pack UOM), and Cases (case UOM).
  • If the scanned item’s primary UOM is a non-system class UOM, the system displays all UOMs in the same UOM class as the item’s primary UOM.

NOTE: The “Ctrl-K: Switch UOM” hotkey is available only when infer UOM from item barcode is disabled.

Steps to enable and configure

To enable infer UOM from item barcode, configure the following screen parameters:

  • For the Mobile IB Sorting transaction, set qty-uom = Infer UOM from Item Barcode.
  • For the Mobile Pick and Allocate and Mobile Summary Cycle Count transactions, set infer-uom-from-item-barcode = Yes.
