Next Gen Label Designer

Label Designer V2 helps warehouse teams create and maintain production-ready labels faster, with a modern web workspace, more precise layout controls, and direct printing or ZPL download using actual data. The result is a simpler path from label design to validated output, reducing design effort while helping teams respond quickly to operational labeling needs.

Label Designer V2 is the next-generation, Redwood-only label-authoring experience in Oracle WMS. It now provides:

  • Web-based label authoring for creating, editing, previewing, saving, importing, exporting, and printing labels.
  • A more intuitive three-pane workspace: left pane for top-level actions, label properties, and the widget palette; center pane for the design canvas and toolbar; and right pane for properties of widgets placed on the canvas.
  • Label-dimension-based design with dimension-based rulers, while continuing to support printer DPI.

Design labels with more control and less effort

Label Designer V2 improves day-to-day label creation with productivity features that make layouts easier to build and refine.

  • Use drag select, copy and paste of widgets, quick alignment, and keyboard support to work efficiently on the canvas.
  • Use the new UI controls Grid, Snap to Grid, and Undo/Redo to place and adjust content with confidence.
  • Duplicate entire pages and work cleanly with multi-page label templates.
  • Build dynamic repeating content, such as details on an “OBLPN Content” label, by using tables.

Inline print support

Inline Print support allows users to download a ZPL or print it directly to their designated printer. This supersedes the previous print preview functionality and gives the exact final output using actual data.

You can validate labels in the V2 workspace before turning them on, supporting a clean migration and activation experience.

Availability and transition

Label Designer V2 is available in the Redwood user experience. The Legacy Designer remains available in the previous user interface and is planned for deprecation and phased retirement in a future release.

Steps to enable and configure

NOTE: No separate configuration changes are required to migrate a label. The migration flow is available within Label Designer V2 itself.

  1. Open the new Label Designer V2 workspace in the Redwood user experience.
  2. Import or migrate the label from within the tool, then review the design on the canvas.
  3. Validate the label using the V2 workspace and make any necessary adjustments to dimensions, widgets, tables, or print behavior.
  4. Turn on the validated label from the V2 front end. Use Inline Print to print directly or download ZPL as needed.
