Enable FedEx international processing for Puerto Rico shipments

Oracle WMS Cloud now supports FedEx International processing requirements for applicable shipments from the mainland United States to Puerto Rico. This enhancement helps prevent FedEx shipment request failures, reduces manual intervention, and minimizes shipping delays by ensuring required customs information is automatically included when Puerto Rico shipments must be processed through the FedEx International shipment flow.

FedEx processing for Puerto Rico shipments

FedEx can classify shipments from the mainland United States to Puerto Rico as International shipments and require customs information as part of the shipment request. Previously, WMS processed Puerto Rico destinations as Domestic shipments, which could result in the required customsValue tag being omitted from the outbound FedEx interface request.

With this enhancement, WMS identifies applicable mainland U.S.-to-Puerto Rico shipments and processes them using the existing FedEx International shipment flow. For these shipments, WMS:

  • Identifies Puerto Rico destinations that require FedEx International processing.
  • Generates the FedEx shipment request using the International shipment flow.
  • Populates the customsValue tag in the outbound FedEx interface request.
  • Calculates the customs value according to existing FedEx International shipment processing standards.
  • Maintains existing Domestic shipment processing for shipments that are not affected by this change.

This provides more consistent integration with FedEx requirements while limiting the change to the applicable Puerto Rico shipment scenarios

Steps to enable and configure

Configuration required for Puerto Rico shipping orders.

  1. on Ship-via, with Aggregate Carrier Commodities = yes and Std Service Type = FEDEX INTERNATIONAL PRIORITY.
  2. Configure the Carrier Commodity Description field on the Item.
  3. In the Carrier facility, Integration Type = FedEx REST Web-services.
  4. Source facility address should be configured for the US region with all details like address, contact name, email, zip-code etc
