Tips And Considerations
Update: Regarding Email Bounce Processor enhancements announced with Eloqua 24A
As part of the bounce processing improvements implemented in February (as part of the Eloqua 24A release), we had spent a number of months prior to the 24A release monitoring the Async bounce differences between the old and new bounce processors in production. What we noticed was a difference of approximately 29% (varies slightly per POD) in bounce classification, between the old and new processor. This includes bounces (soft or hard) that were not classified correctly and bounces that were not classified at all by the old processor, but are now classified correctly by the new processor. Resulting in approximately a 29% improvement in Async bounce classification with the new processor.
The updates to the bounce processor in 24A apply only to Asynch bounces (happens when the receiver server accepts the email for delivery, but then fails to deliver it to the recipient, these can happen anytime after the initial delivery attempt). The updates in Feb do not apply to Sync bounces (which happen immediately during the sending attempt to the receiver server), We are investigating similar improvements to Sync bounces in a future release.
Our goal is to provide continuous improvements related to email bounce classification in future releases, starting with the first phase in 24A. More information will be provided in our upcoming release(s).
