Reference Entity Removal Validation on Inspections
When agency staff unlink a reference entity in the permit application details on the Reference Entities page, the system now determines whether the reference entity has already been selected in an inspection request. Here’s how the unlinking works when the reference entity is removed from the permit:
- For active inspections in Pending, Requested, or Scheduled statuses, the reference entity is removed from every active inspection.
- For canceled or completed inspections, read-only reference entity information remains in the permit details for historical purposes.
When agency staff change a reference entity to void or inactive in the agency’s list of reference entities, the entity is also removed from all active inspections but again is read-only on completed or canceled inspections for history in the permit application details. You can’t select the reference entity anymore to link to permits or add to the permit inspections.
An additional enhancement is the default filter based on the permit’s primary address when linking a reference entity. The search filter displays reference entities with a matching primary address.
Provides validation when a reference entity is removed from a permit to ensure there are no active inspections.

Tips And Considerations
Public users can’t unlink reference entities on permits after application submission or manage reference entities.
Unlinking reference entities doesn’t affect fee calculations; reference entities are informational only.
The Reference Entities page in the permit application details remains an extensible page; AI agents can be added by an agency.
