Report Split Rates in Calculation

Report split rates as well as input applied at each tier for any calculation result that uses split rate tables.

Example: if the rate table is

From To Rate
0 1,000 1%
1,000 5,000 2%
5,000 10,000 3%
10000 1,000,000 0%

example a) If the rate split option is non-proportional (step rate) and the input is 2500, the rates applied to 2500 will span across the first 2 tiers and will be a blended rate of 1.6%. In addition to this data which is stored currently, the calculation will also store that the first 1000 out of 2500 is applicable to the first tier where the rate is 1% and the remaining 1500 is applicable to the second tier where the rate is 2%. It will also store the fact that the split rate applicable to the first 1000 is 0.4% and the split rate applicable to the remaining 1500 is 1.2%  thereby getting the blended rate of 0.4% + 1.2% = 1.6%.

example b) If the rate split option is proportional and the input is 2000, the rates applied to 2000 will span across the first 2 tiers and will be a blended rate of 1.5%. In addition to this data which is stored currently, the calculation will also store that the first 1000 out of 2000 is applicable to the first tier where the rate is 1% and the remaining 1000 is applicable to the second tier where the rate is 2%. It will also store the fact that the split rate applicable to the first 1000 is 1% and the split rate applicable to the remaining 1000 is 0.5%  thereby getting the blended rate of 1% + 0.5% = 1.5%.

This feature is delivered disabled by default since it puts extra load on the calculation engine to store additional data. But for those customers who need to show this level of detail even if there is a potential change in current calculation performance, it can be easily enabled by setting the profile option Split Rates Detail Enabled to Y.

Explain calculation results easily.

Steps to Enable

Navigate to Setup and Maintenance

Go to task Manage Incentive Profile Values

Set Profile Split Rate Details Enabled to Y.

Tips And Considerations

Storing these details on every calculation result which uses a split rate is an extra load on the calculation engine. So there is a trade-off in calculation performance for getting these details. Therefore, only enable this feature if you need to report this level of detail.
