Allow User-Defined Queries to Only Process New Transactions

Allow user-defined queries to only process new or modified transactions without recalculating any existing transactions by running the Update Recalculation Required Flag process.

Choose the user-defined query and set the recalculation required flag to N if you want any formulas using that user-defined query to just recalculate only new or modified transactions. Note that the process will only set the recalculation required flag of these formulas to N if there aren't any other attributes of the formula which prevent it from being updated to N. Example: if the formula has a running total, the recalculation required flag will not be updated to N.

The log file will specify the formulas where the recalculation required flag have been and have not been updated.

Faster calculation.

Tips And Considerations

  • This process relies on the judgement of the plan administrator to know whether a user-defined query should always recalculate all transactions or only new and modified transactions. So only use this process if the data referenced in the query doesn't change, thereby affecting existing transactions or if you are sure that you do not want to recalculate existing transactions even if the data referenced in the query changes.
  • If you update any formula, the recalculation required flag will be reset. So only run this process at the end after all the changes to the formula have been made.
