Filter Objects Based on Product Hierarchy

Product hierarchy is a way to organize a company's product groups in a hierarchical structure to provide a holistic view of the product portfolio. With this feature, you can filter related objects like Opportunities and Leads based on the product group hierarchy of the associated Products. Filtering based on product hierarchy is available on the List pages on Redwood UX, Workspace and also in the Adaptive REST APIs.

Filter the data and get a view specific to a particular Product Group or its hierarchy to identify trends, opportunities, and issues within specific product lines, driving targeted actions or coming up with relevant sales strategies.

Steps to Enable

  1. Login with user with Application Implementation Consultant role and go to the Configure Adaptive Search setup task.
  2. Click on the Setup tab and select the Object that has Product / Product Group as a related object and where you want to enable the filtering on e.g. Opportunity.
  3. Expand the object and child nodes till you reach Item / Product group node and click on it to see its fields on the right hand side.
  4. Look for the field Product Hierarchy (ListOfAncestorIdsInBaseHierarchy) and enable it. Also mark it to be Included in Object Reference.
  5. You can do so for both Item and Product Group nodes to apply filters on any of these two.
  6. Save and do a Publish.
  7. Once the publish is completed, you can go to the Opportunity List page and filter records using this new Product Hierarchy field to get a list of all the opportunities for a specific product group and its hierarchy.
