Configuration Auto-Generation Enhancements

Oracle CPQ 25C provides a Refresh action to the Edit/View Configurations List View in the Product Workbench. When Refresh is selected, the auto generator will check for updates in the BOM Item Definition table and generate updates. If no updates are needed for a configuration after refresh, the status is updated to Valid.

The configuration status can be:

  • Valid – The configuration was successful

  • Possibly Outdated – The BOM Item Definition table has been deployed recently so the configuration might be outdated

  • Error - The configuration auto generation failed

  • Running – The auto generation is currently running

Edit/View Configurations Refresh Action

The following example scenarios describe what will occur when the definition of the product changes and "Refresh" needs to apply changes:

  • When new option was added to an Option Class, "Refresh" will add a new menu item value to the correspondent configurable attribute.

  • When new items or Option Classes were added to the structure, "Refresh" will automatically create the new attributes to represent those additions.

Refresh a Configuration

Complete the following steps to refresh a configuration.

  1. Navigate to Admin > Products > Product Workbench.

  2. Click on the BOM product Actions ellipsis, and then select Edit/View Configurations.

  3. Click on Actions ellipsis, and then select Refresh.

The auto-generation enhancements provide improved status feedback and simplifies the process to generate updates.

Steps to Enable

You don't need to do anything to enable this feature.

Tips And Considerations

  • In Oracle CPQ 25C, Refresh may leave stale/orphan BOM item mappings and should be manually cleaned up.

  • Any configurable attributes that are manually added after auto generation will not be affected by the Refresh.
