Self-Service Cart to CPQ Transaction Synchronization for Oracle Commerce Cloud Orders
As more buyers engage through self-service digital channels, protecting the integrity of their buying experience becomes critical. With Release 25D, Oracle CPQ introduces a new Cart In Progress step in the transaction flow, designed specifically for quotes initiated from the Oracle Commerce Cloud cart. This enables real-time synchronization of self-service carts with CPQ transactions, ensuring accurate pricing and data without sales agent intervention.
Cart in Progress Step
Automatically begins when a buyer adds the first item to the Commerce cart.
-
Buyer access:
-
-
Buyers can only update the quote by adding, modifying, or removing items from self-service carts.
-
Each change updates the CPQ transaction in real time, and pricing is re-evaluated accordingly.
-
-
Sales agent access:
-
-
Sales agents can view the quote.
-
They cannot make changes, ensuring buyers have exclusive control and preventing conflicts or disruptions.
-
Post-Cart Actions On Oracle Commerce Cloud
After finalizing the cart, buyers can choose from the following actions:
-
Sales Representative Assistance Requested
-
If assistance is requested (e.g., for negotiations or changes), the transaction transitions to the In-Progress state and follows the Self-Service Quoting flow (See Oracle CPQ Administration Online Help > Integrations > Oracle Integrations > Oracle Commerce Cloud Self-Service Portal Integration for details.)
-
When the quote is in In-Progress state, only the sales representative can modify the quote.
-
-
Order Checkout
-
-
Buyers can complete the purchase directly without sales representative involvement.
-
The CPQ quote is updated with additional details like tax and shipping details from Oracle Commerce Cloud and automatically converted to a pre-priced order.
-
The transaction moves to the Ordered state.
-
This feature gives buyers full control over their cart, allowing them to complete purchases quickly with real-time pricing and quote updates. At the same time, it prevents sales representatives from unintentionally modifying such quotes, ensuring transaction accuracy. It provides a mechanism to allow assistance from sales representatives only when explicitly requested by the buyer providing flexibility and support without disrupting the self-service process.
