New Credit Methods for Close and Amend
The credit amount on close or amend of a product can now consider billed future periods or billed current and future periods for calculating the credit amount. The field Close Credit Method now shows the values
Close Credit Method
Three new values mentioned below are added.
- Last partial period billing.
- The partial period setup for Last Period from the section Partial Period Billing and Credit Rules is used to determine the credit amount.
- Full credit only for future periods
- Credits back only the future interfaced bill periods. Deletes all the future period bill lines that are not interfaced yet.
- All future billed periods are credited. All future unbilled period bill lines are dropped. Past and current period bill lines are retained.
- Full credit for current and future periods
- Credits back the current period, and future interfaced periods. Deletes all the future period bill lines that are not interfaced yet.
- All future and current billed period bill lines are credited. All future and current unbilled period bill lines are dropped.

Credit memos are generated for all of the bill lines interfaced so far from the period in which the close date lies. (including the one-time charge). The future bill lines for the months of Aug, Sep, Oct, Nov, and Dec are deleted.
III. When the Subscription product is closed with Close Credit Method: Last partial period billing and Close Date: 28-May-2025
The last partial period refers to the bill period in which the close date lies i.e. 28-May-2025. Depending on the Last partial period option
- Prorate- The amount for that period 1-May-2025 to 31-May-2025 is prorated based on close date and billed.
- Do not bill- The amount for that that period 1-May-2025 to 31-May-2025 is 0.
- Bill in full- The entire amount for that period 1-May-2025 to 31-May-2025 is billed.
- Don't bill if less than- If the number of days in that period 1-May-2025 to 31-May-2025 due to the close date is less than the specified number or charge period fraction, then 0 is billed.
The bill lines after the close date are credited if they are billed or dropped if not billed.
- Flexibility in giving credit to customers for close and amend thereby reducing disputes and gathering goodwill of customers.
Steps to Enable and Configure
You don't need to do anything to enable this feature.
Tips And Considerations
- When profile option Enable Partial Period Advanced Billing Options is 'Yes' then the Close Credit Method in both the Subscription Profile and the Product Summary is shown in a new section Partial Period Billing and Credit Rules.
- When the Close Credit Method is Last partial period billing, then the value of the field Last Period in section Partial Period Billing and Credit Rules is shown alongside for the reference of the user.
- If close if performed from subscription header then the Close Credit Method will show all the values. The value at the product level will be given precedence over the value from the header level.
