Accounts, Contacts Duplicate Checker
Duplicate Checker gives Sales Users an intelligent checkpoint at the moment they create a new lead. You start as usual on the Create Lead page, enter or pick a contact name such as John Smith using the contact picker, and select or create an account such as My Favorite Accounts on the lead form. When you click Create, the system automatically checks for similar accounts and contacts. If matches are found, an alert appears stating: "Similar accounts or contacts found". You can review existing records or continue creating the lead with the entered information. From here, you can click Review contacts to see a list of contacts with similar names, then select the correct contact. The Primary Contact field and related contact details on the lead are updated with your selection. You can also click Review accounts, see all relevant accounts with the same or similar name, and choose the right account. The selected account details are copied over to the Create Lead page. Throughout this process, values you have chosen for Rank, Status, and any custom FCL or DCL fields on the Create Lead layout are fully retained. When you are satisfied, you click Create again and the lead is saved. On the Lead Details page, you can verify that the chosen account, contact, and all standard and custom FCL or DCL values appear exactly as you entered them. No additional setup is required apart from adding any desired custom FCL or DCL fields to the Create Lead layout.
Business Benefits
- Reduced Data Duplication: Capture new leads while preventing duplicate accounts and contacts at the point of creation, which keeps customer data cleaner and more trustworthy.
- Higher Productivity for Sales Users: Avoid time consuming clean up or record merges later, since users can confirm the correct contact and account in a single, guided flow.
