Support Primary Charge in Quoting
Oracle CPQ running in Fusion introduces a untified pricing behavior for product price and charges across the quoting flow. With this enhancement, Oracle CPQ running in Fusion aligns terminology and processing so charge data is handled more consistently in User Interface workflows, calculations, and downstream integrations.
When the primary-charge behavior is enabled, quote pricing values are synchronized more predictably between line pricing attributes and the charge set. This keeps the line price attributes consistent with primary charge data that previously required special handling.
This enhancement helps administrators and quoting teams manage pricing with fewer special-case behaviors. By reducing differences between product price and charge handling, teams can maintain pricing logic more easily and reduce maintenance in quote processing.
This feature provides the following benefits:
- Improves pricing consistency across quote UI and processing flows.
- Reduces manual troubleshooting tied to pricing and charge mismatches.
Steps to enable and configure
To configure this feature, you must have administrator priviledges with access to the Oracle CPQ General Site Options.
Note: Enable the primary-charge behavior in General Site Options before relying on the unified handling model in production.
To enable primary charge, complete the following steps:
- Navigate to CPQ Admin > Settings and Preferences.
- Click General Settings to open the General Site Options.
- Click Yes to enable the Include Product Price in Charge Set option.
Note: When the Include Product Price in Charge Set option is enabled, all quote lines will have charges populated in the Charge Set. One of the charges will be set as the Primary Charge. This charge will be copied to the Line Price Attribute Set attributes. The Line Price Attribute Set attributes are not editable. The charges will need to be edited via the Charge Drawer for each quote line.
- Validate quote flows for line-level pricing updates.
- For integrated sites, verify that downstream systems consume the quote line charge set-based pricing as expected.
