OTBI Support for Sales Catalog Configured in Product Information Management (PIM)

OTBI now supports reporting on items and categories in some subject areas from Product Information Management (PIM) for customers who configure the Sales Catalog in PIM.

The following OTBI subject areas include a new PIM Product folder

  • Marketing - CRM Leads
  • Partners - CRM Leads and Opportunities Real Time
  • Partners - CRM Opportunities and Products Real Time
  • Partners - CRM Partner Overview
  • Partners - CRM Registered Leads Real Time
  • Sales - CRM Asset Contact
  • Sales - CRM Asset
  • Sales - CRM Customer Overview
  • Sales - CRM Deal Registration Product
  • Sales - CRM Historical Pipeline
  • Sales - CRM Lead Product
  • Sales - CRM Opportunities and Products Real Time
  • Sales - CRM Pipeline
  • Sales - CRM Quote Lines

The ORA_QSC_ENABLE_PIM_CATALOG_MIGRATION profile option controls which product folder is displayed:

  • When the profile option is Yes, the PIM Product folder is displayed and the Product folder is hidden.
  • When the profile option is No or isn't set, the Product folder is displayed and the PIM Product folder is hidden.

This update enables customers who configure the Sales Catalog in PIM to create OTBI reports using PIM item and category data.

Steps to enable and configure

Set the ORA_QSC_ENABLE_PIM_CATALOG_MIGRATION profile option to Yes.

Tips and considerations

The PIM Product folder contains three subfolders:

  • Item – Use for reporting on items.
  • Category – Use for reporting on categories.
  • Sales Catalog Hierarchy – Use for reporting on the relationship between items and categories, including the category hierarchy.

Run the following scheduled processes in the order given below after making changes to items or categories in PIM to ensure that OTBI reports reflect the latest data:

  • Refresh Product Hub Snapshots
  • Refresh Denormalized Product Catalog Table for BI (set Full Refresh to Yes.)

Access requirements

When the ORA_QSC_ENABLE_PIM_CATALOG_MIGRATION profile option is enabled, users with access to the listed OTBI subject areas also have access to the PIM Product folder.
