Change Description and Pricing for Catalog Items During Shopping
You can now use the Responsive Self Service Procurement application to change the following information for catalog items during shopping:
- Description and price for a master item
- Price or amount for a blanket purchase agreement line based on the type of line.
This table summarizes the conditions for the changeability of attributes depending on the type of catalog content:
Catalog Content Type | Attribute | Conditions for Attribute Modification |

For both master items and agreement lines, you can modify the values for price and description by drilling down to the Product Details page from the search result card for the item. You could make the desired change and upon adding to the cart the requisition line will be created with specified values.
Edit Icons to Update the Description and Price of a Master Item
If you want to modify the values of the catalog item after it has been added to the cart, you can navigate to the Line Product Details page by clicking the item description link for the line in the shopping cart.

Line Product Details for Line with Blanket Purchase Agreement Line Reference
Apart from lines based on master items and blanket purchase agreements, depending on conditions, the description and pricing information on lines created from punchout catalogs can also be modified using the Line Product Details page.
The description and pricing information provided by you for a master item is retained on lines after requisition submission and purchase order creation. For such lines, automatic document sourcing isn't applicable in requisitioning and PO generation flows. After you have updated any of description and pricing attributes for a master item-based line, any updates to these attributes in the Product Information Management (PIM) setup for the item won't be updated on the specific lines.
Like the master item, any change to the price or amount of a requisition line referencing a blanket purchase agreement line, is maintained on the requisition line and the associated purchase order document.
Using this feature, you can:
- Specify a more current description for goods or services and pricing information than the possibly dated values in the catalog setup.
- Communicate the specified values to the supplier by retaining information on purchase orders created for requisition lines.
Steps to Enable
Use the Opt In UI to enable this feature. For instructions, refer to the Optional Uptake of New Features section of this document.
Offering: Procurement
If you want to use the Support Price and Description Update of Catalog Items during Shopping feature, then you must opt in to its parent feature: Procure Goods and Services Using the Responsive Self Service Procurement Application. If you’ve already opted in to this parent feature, then you don’t have to opt in again.
Tips And Considerations
- For blanket purchase agreement lines with currency other than the ledger currency, the transactional currency price or amount is updatable on both the Product Details and the Line Product Details pages.
- On the Product Details page, the updates to any of the attributes are only applicable to the Add to Cart action. The Add to List action always adds the item with original attribute values. Also, the changes made to attributes are visible until the user is on the page.
- For items that can be sourced from inventory or supplier, any changes to the attributes made will be ignored if the source is determined to be inventory upon Add to Cart.
