Derive Supply Information for Transfer Orders Interfaced to Oracle Order Management from the Sales Order Fulfillment Line
In Oracle Inventory Management, transfer orders may exist in the state in which they were interfaced to Oracle Order Management for fulfillment. With this update, the collections process derives information for the transfer orders from the corresponding sales order whenever transfer orders are interfaced to Order Management. Oracle Fusion Cloud Supply Chain Planning will derive the state of the transfer order, such as the expected arrival date at the destination, from the sales order fulfillment line rather than from the original transfer order.
You can derive the following transfer order supply information:
- Ship date, from the sales order fulfillment line scheduled ship date
- Supply date, from the sales order fulfillment line scheduled arrival date
- Shipping method, in transit lead time, and source organization from the sales order fulfillment line
This information is derived again when a sales order is split from Oracle Global Order Promising, Oracle Backlog Management, or Order Management.
In addition, the sales order fulfillment line accurately reflects the subsequent changes in the ship and supply dates.
When you release a transfer order reschedule recommendation out of Oracle Supply Chain Planning, the scheduled ship date and arrival date of the interfaced sales order fulfillment line are synchronized. Subsequent collection processes will carry over these dates into the transfer order’s ship date and supply date.
This feature is applicable to Oracle Fusion Cloud Supply Planning, Demand and Supply Planning, Global Order Promising, Backlog Management, and Oracle Sales and Operations Planning. It works for both unconstrained and constrained supply plans and is supported for both targeted and net change collections. However, it's only applicable to an Oracle Fusion Cloud SCM source system. This feature is applicable to Oracle Replenishment Planning from update 25A.
Perform the following steps to utilize this feature:
- Create a transfer order and interface it to Order Management.
- Order Management creates a sales order associated with the transfer order.
- Run targeted or net change collections by selecting the reservations, sales orders, and transfer orders.
Once the data is collected, the derived transfer order supplies in Oracle Supply Chain Planning will match the reservations as the transfer orders in Oracle Inventory.
The corresponding sales order fulfillment line is closed once a transfer order interfaced to Order Management is completely shipped. The supply is in transit, and the planning data collection process stops referencing the sales order fulfillment line. In the case of partial shipments, the supply information for the unshipped quantity is still derived from the sales order fulfillment line.
The following table details critical attributes derived for transfer orders from sales orders and their source of derivation.
Transfer Order Attribute | Transfer Order Supply Information Derivation Source | Comments |
---|---|---|
Item | Transfer order line | |
Destination organization | Transfer order line | |
Expected Delivery date or Need By date |
Sales order fulfillment line – Scheduled arrival date |
|
Ship Date |
Sales order fulfillment line – Scheduled ship date |
|
Transfer Order Number | Transfer order header number | |
Transfer Order Line Number | Transfer order line and sales order fulfillment line |
If a sales order is split, the transfer order lines will be split accordingly, numbered 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, and so on. For example, if the transfer order lines in Oracle Inventory are numbered 1 and 2, and the sales order line 1 is split into two lines, then the transfer order lines derived in Oracle Supply Chain Planning will be 1.1, 1.2, and 2.1. |
Shipping Method | Sales order fulfillment line | |
Source Organization | Sales order fulfillment line | |
Destination Organization Subinventory code | Transfer order line | |
Source Organization Subinventory code | Transfer order line |
This value is filled in only when the transfer order's source organization subinventory exists and matches the shipping organization of the sales order. Otherwise, it remains null. |
Transfer price | Transfer order line | |
Unit of Measure | Transfer order line is collected to the primary unit of measure of the item respecting the destination organization | |

Examples of How Data Collection Derives Transfer Order Supply Information from Sales Order Fulfillment Line
Example 1: This example shows how the transfer order supply information is derived when the Scheduled Ship Date differs from the Requested Ship Date for the sales order created from a transfer order.
A sales order SO1 with line 1 is created from a transfer order interfaced to Order Management. The transfer order requested a ship date of D8, but it is scheduled to ship on D12. Once the data is collected, the transfer order is derived with the expected delivery date as D14 and the ship date as D12.
Transfer Order Due Date, Dock Date, and Ship Date Derived from Sales Order Fulfillment Line
Example 2: This example shows how the transfer order supply information is derived when the shipping method is updated in the sales order related to the transfer order.
The transfer order’s supply dates are derived from the associated sales order when the shipping method is updated. The shipping method of sales order SO1 with fulfillment line 1, associated with transfer order TO1, is updated from ABC-2Day, which has a 2-day transit lead time, to DEF-Road-3Days, with a 3-day in transit lead time. The collection process then derives the supply dates for the transfer order from its associated sales order.
Transfer Order Due Date, Dock Date, and Ship Date Derived from Sales Order Fulfillment Line when Shipping Method is Updated
Example 3: This example shows how the transfer order supply information is derived when sales order fulfillment lines are split.
The sales order SO1 created from transfer order TO1 in Order Management with line 1 is split into three fulfillment lines, each with different scheduled ship dates. The data collection process now has derived supply information for the three transfer order lines, aligning with each open sales order fulfillment line.
Transfer Order Due Dates, Dock Dates, and Ship Dates are Derived from Split Sales Order Fulfillment Lines
Example 4: This example shows how the transfer order supply information is derived from its sales order fulfillment line for a partial shipment
The data collections process derives the supply information for a partially shipped transfer order. Transfer order TO1, with line 1, is partially shipped with 4 units.
The process then derives the transfer order supply information for the remaining unshipped transfer order from its corresponding sales order fulfillment line 2.
Transfer Order Due Dates, Dock Dates, and Ship Dates are Derived from Partially Shipped Sales Order Fulfillment Line
Oracle Supply Planning now offers these enhancements for planning derived transfer order supplies:
- Displays the Order Status as Interfaced to Order Management for transfer orders whose supply information is derived from the sales order fulfillment line in the Supplies and Demands view.
- Supports the release of reschedule and cancel recommendations from Oracle Supply Planning for transfer order supply with derived information from the sales order fulfillment line.
Moreover, the forecast can be consumed with transfer order demand in the source organization for transfer orders whose supply information is derived from their sales order fulfillment lines.
You can also plan expense destination transfer orders with supply information derived from their sales order fulfillment line in Oracle Supply Planning, Global Order Promising, Backlog Management, and Sales and Operations Planning.

Tips And Considerations
- This feature will be the default behavior starting 11.13.25.07.0 update.
- To derive transfer order supply information from their sales order fulfillment lines interfaced to Order Management, you must collect the sales order fulfillment line either with transfer orders or before transfer order collection.
- For transfer orders interfaced to shipping, the supply information will be collected from Oracle Inventory.
- Reschedule and cancel recommendations for transfer orders interfaced to shipping are not impacted and will be released to Oracle Inventory.
- When releasing reschedule recommendations for transfer orders with supply information derived from sales order fulfillment lines, you must include source and destination organizations in the plan scope.
