Manage Work Definition Productivity Improvements Using the Redwood User Experience
This update includes the following enhancements to help you improve productivity while working with work definitions in Redwood pages.
Search Work Definitions as of a Specified Date
In the Work Definitions page, you can now search for work definitions versions that are effective as of a specified date. You can apply the Work Definition As-of-Date filter and select a past date, today, or future date to narrow the search for work definition versions based on the version start and end dates. This type of search filter helps you quickly find work definitions for change management scenarios that take effect on a particular date.

Warn When Reactivating a Work Definition
When you reactivate an inactive work definition, you can view a warning message to confirm the action before reactivation in the Work Definitions page. Reactivating a work definition makes all of its versions available again.

View Item Structure Components Ordered by Item Sequence
In the Operation Items page for a work definition, you can now view the list of components ordered by the item sequence in ascending order in the Item Structure view. The item sequence reflects the relative order of an item in the structure.
Automatically Assign Material Sequence After Saving Operation Sequence
In the Operation Items page for a work definition, you can now assign an item to an operation by entering the operation sequence and leaving the material sequence blank in the Item Structure view. Saving this page automatically assigns the next material sequences, which appear in both the Item Structure and Assigned Items views.
Default Supply Subinventory and Locator for Ad hoc Items
In the Operation Items page for a work definition, you can now default the supply subinventory and locator for an ad hoc item assigned to an operation in the Assigned Items view. The supply subinventory and locator indicate from which the material is supplied to the work order operation. For an ad hoc item, the supply subinventory and locator default from a hierarchy in the following order:
- Work center
- Item master
- Plant parameter
You can also update the default values.
Here are the benefits with these improvements:
- Quickly find and update work definitions in effect on a specific date such as the change order line effective date
- Eliminate unnecessary data entry for material sequences when assigning multiple items to operations in a work definition
- Adhere to the locations defined for ad hoc material supply in a work definition
Steps to Enable
To use this feature, enable the 24B feature, Search for, Create, and Edit a Standard Item Work Definition Using the Redwood User Experience.
Tips And Considerations
It's recommended to use the suggested operation sequence for an item structure component to automatically assign it to a work definition operation when creating or copying a work definition for a standard item. This approach eliminates the need to enter operation sequences and material sequences in the Item Structure view of the Work Definition Operation Items page. For more information, refer to the 24B feature: Automatically Assign Item Structure Components to Work Definition Operations.
