Use Categories to Simplify Your Pricing Promotions
Starting with Update 24C, you can use categories in Oracle Pricing to focus where you want to apply a promotion instead of applying the promotion on each individual item:
- Apply your promotion to one or more categories in a catalog.
- Evaluate and apply your rule to each item that's in the category's hierarchy.
- Use the category as the eligibility criteria to include or exclude a promotion.
To start, select your promotion:
Promotion Lines
Consider this example:
Create a Discount
The example applies this rule:
If the item is in the Home Theatre category or the Kitchen Appliances category, then apply a 25% discount on the list price.
Tiers
Create a tiered discount according to the list price and the category that the item is in:
Tiered Promotion
If the total amount of one time charges for all office supplies on the sales order is more than:
- $12,000 but less than $20,000, then apply a 10% discount off the list price.
- $8,000 but less than $12,000, then apply a 6% discount off the list price.
- $3,000 but less than $8,000, then apply a 3% discount off the list price.
Exclusions
Add a category as an exclusion to your rule:
Exclusion
For example:
If the Customer attribute on the sales order contains Business World, or if it contains ABC Application Software, and if the item is in the Extra Dark Pencils category, then exclude that item from the promotion.
Business Benefits:
- Focus your selling.
- Easily create complex rules.
