Redwood: Search For and Manage Maintenance Program Forecasts Using a New User Experience

Use Oracle's smart search and filters to search for and manage maintenance forecasts in the Manage Forecasts page. The smart search uses Oracle Search Extension Framework to provide a powerful index-based search engine combined with Oracle's next user experience so you can quickly and easily perform full-text searches for forecasts. Maintenance programs define and generate a preventive maintenance forecast for one or more affected assets in a maintenance-enabled organization. The forecast is then used as a basis for creating preventive maintenance work orders, thus reducing the workload for maintenance planners and allowing them to focus on maintenance program auditing, optimization, and exception-based events.

Smart Search and Filters

In the Search field, type in a keyword such as an asset name, serial number, or organization and then press the Enter key. Improve your search results further by applying filters such as forecast status, time period, due date, and asset number.

Saved Searches

You can create your personal saved searches and assign a unique default saved search for each role. The Default saved search shows your preferred forecasts and also becomes the landing page when you open your workspace. Here's how you create a saved search:

  1. Enter your keywords and search terms in the Search box.
  2. Add filters and select filter values.
  3. Use Edit Columns to add or change columns displayed in the search results.
  4. Give a name to your saved search in the Save dialog.
  5. Save your changes.

The powerful index-based search engine and Oracle's next user experience together makes it quick and easy for you to do your full-text searches for maintenance forecasts.

Offering: Manufacturing and Supply Chain Materials Management

  1. Use the Opt In UI to enable this feature. For instructions, see the Optional Uptake of New Features section of this document.
  2. Enable the Oracle Search Extension Framework to create indexes, ingest predefined indexes, and manage search capabilities.
    1. Set the Enable/Disable Search Ext Framework (ORA_FND_SEARCH_EXT_ENABLED) profile option to Yes.
    2. Ensure that you have the Manage Scheduled Job Definition (FND_MANAGE_SCHEDULED_JOB_DEFINITION_PRIV) privilege to run scheduled processes.
    3. Use the scheduled process, ESS job to create index definition and perform initial ingest to OSCS, to create index definition and perform initial ingest to OSCS process for creating indexes and ingesting predefined indexes.
      • Set this parameter: Index Name to Reingest: fa-alm-maintenanceforecasts
      • Run the schedule process.

NOTE: If you don't specify any index names, the process runs for all the predefined indexes.

Tips And Considerations

You can resubmit the ESS job to create index definition and perform initial ingest to OSCS scheduled process if the index is already created and you want to clear the index and ingest all your data again. This is helpful both in production and test systems.

However, for the routine update of the index, use the ESS job to run Bulk ingest to OSCS scheduled process entitled. This process refreshes the index with the latest forecast updates, including due dates, work order references, and due date status values.

To submit this process, set these parameters:

  • Program Name to Run Bulk Ingest: MNT_FORECAST_BULK_INGEST
  • Additional Filters: leave as blank
  • Retain Records: leave as blank

It is recommended to schedule the ESS job to run Bulk ingest to OSCS process at least once a day to keep your index up to date. However, schedule this process after the Generate Maintenance Forecast and Generate Maintenance Work Orders processes to update your preventative maintenance forecast. You can schedule this process more frequently depending on your business needs or run this process manually on-demand as needed to refresh your index.
