Redwood: View Comprehensive Attribute Data in Structure Grid

The structure grid displays the current effective revision of the parent item and each component. The following entities of each component show the values of the component's current revision:

  • item operational attributes
  • item extensible flexfields
  • component level attributes
  • component descriptive flexfields
  • reference designators
  • substitute components

Here are some details of the newly added attributes - Reference Designator and Substitute Component:

  • Reference Designator
    • View as a range if a range indicator has been configured in Manage Items Structure Type Details
    • Search for the structure component based on the reference designator. However, you must include the Reference Designator Search attribute in the views you create to search for components using the reference designator
    • Use the icon appearing next to the reference designators to navigate to the side panel for more information about the reference designators.
  • Substitute Component
    • Search for the structure component based on the substitute component
    • Click the item link to navigate to the item in the classic user interface.
    • Use the icon appearing next to the substitute components to navigate to the side panel for more information about the substitute components.

To view the details of the reference designators and substitute components in the side panel drawer, you can select the data presence indicator on the component row.

The drawer panel has separate tabs for reference designators and substitute components. In the reference designator tab, you can see the configuration for Quantity Related and the reference designators with the range indicator, if you’ve enabled the range indicator.

The details of the reference designator are in the table, and you can also search for a specific reference designator within the table. The global descriptive flexfields are always visible.

Steps to Enable

  • Index reference designator and substitute component attributes in the Structure index.
  • These attributes can be used in existing views or to create new views.
  • You must enable the following profile option to open the item in Redwood or Classic view when you click the item link:
    • Code: ORA_EGP_VIEW_ITEM_REDWOOD_ENABLED
    • Display Name: Redwood Page for View Item Enabled
      • Setting the value to Y will open the item in the Redwood user interface.
      • Setting the value to N will open the item in the Classic user interface.

Tips And Considerations

  • When you hide or resize the columns or rows of a table, the modification doesn't persist when you navigate away from the page.
  • Only global descriptive flexfields will be displayed in the side panel for reference designators. Context-sensitive descriptive flexfields aren't supported in this release.
  • Use the Enterprise Scheduler Service job: Product Management Search Ingest Job to ingest the new range indicator and replace the existing range indicator:
    • Ingest Object = Item Structure
    • Object Type = Reference Designators
    • From Date = Enter a date
    • To Date = You can select the current date

  • After completing this job, the ESS job to run Bulk ingest to OSCS job starts automatically. When both jobs are completed, the range indicator will show the latest selected range indicator.
