Redwood: Record Physical Inventory Tags Using a Spreadsheet

Physical inventories allow you to reconcile system maintained on-hand balances with the physically present quantity of material to ensure that the correct on-hand quantity is reflected in the application. Depending on how many items or how many locations you have in your organization, recording the counted quantities on your physical inventory tags can be an arduous task. To make this process easier, now you can enter the counted quantity in a prebuilt spreadsheet that uses the Oracle Visual Builder Add-in for Excel.

You may now also use the Record Physical Inventory Tags in Spreadsheet task, which will download a seeded spreadsheet template using the Oracle Visual Builder for Excel plugin for recording the physical inventory default tags for a given physical inventory. Additionally, you can use the spreadsheet for recording blank tags or creating dynamic tags (if the physical inventory is set up to allow creation of dynamic tags).

Complete these steps to edit the data:

  1.   Go to the worksheet to configure.
  2.   Click Download Data.  
  3.   Provide the criteria, or add new criteria using the Add Column button, and click OK. This downloads the data for each sheet separately.
  4.   Once the data is downloaded, make your updates and click Upload Changes.

Complete these steps to upload new data:

  1. Go to your worksheet.
  2. Select a row and enter the data. When you enter data, the Change column shows Create.                                     
  3. Click Upload Changes to save the data.    

This feature provides you the ability to record your physical inventory counts more efficiently.

Steps to Enable

Follow these steps to enable or disable this feature:

  1. In the Setup and Maintenance work area, search for and select the Manage Inventory Profile Options task.
  2. On the Manage Inventory Profile Options page, search for and select the Physical Inventory VBCS Spreadsheet to Record Tags Enabled profile display name or ORA_INV_PHYSICAL_INVENTORY_TAGS_USING_VBCS_SPREADSHEET as the profile option code.
  3. In the Profile Values section, set the Site Level to Yes or No. The default value is No.
  • Yes = enables the feature
  • No = disables the feature
  1. Click Save and Close. Changes in the profile value will affect users the next time they sign in.

Tips And Considerations

There are three worksheets in this template:

  • Record Default Tags: Download, edit and upload the default tags for the physical inventory.             
  • Record Blank Tags: Download, edit and upload the blank tags for the physical inventory.
  • Record Dynamic Tags: Create and edit dynamic tags for the physical inventory.

You'll need to provide login credentials for the Record Blank Tags and Record Dynamic Tags worksheets separately.
